just thinkin' 'bout how the night she announced 1989 was the night before travis showed up with a friendship bracelet, and how he always said his favorite song was blank space and then she made an entire album of blank space-type bangers

“Cruel Summer” (2019)
For the first 98 seconds, “Cruel Summer” is merely a perfect Taylor Swift song. Then for the bridge, she takes off into a deranged greatest-hits album’s worth of choruses from brilliant songs she hasn’t written yet. You could write a whole dissertation on the erotics of windows in Taylor’s songs — no poet since Keats has been so obsessed with the kind of desire that doesn’t dare use the door. “Cruel Summer” is about sneaking around and feeling ashamed of her secrets, but also feeling proud of how ashamed she is, until she finally yells her dirtiest secret out loud: “I love you — ain’t that the worst thing you ever heard?” But make no mistake, she loves her secrets more than she’ll ever love this paramour.Best line: “I snuck in through the garden gate / Every night that summer just to seal my fate.” Listen here.

Rolling Stone Australia still has my personal ranking as best traditional media take on Cruel Summer.

since our call, i've been thinking a lot about our potential goals for this project

particularly around how we might make it easier to see the parallax

and how we can distill what we know to make it easier for newbies to jump in

Modern queercoding in media.. bisexual lighting, getting wet, tagging yourself on someone else doing something suggestive. Then THEY share that, cosigning in it.

It's like Taylor tagging herself on boobs and butts lmao

It is NOT possible for me to listen to Golden from KPop Demon Hunters without crying. Not. Possible.

How do I fix this?

rejecting that man does matter though, love that energy

when i see twitter, mostly i miss what it used to be 🥲 those days were good

the fact that people still call it twitter at all means they completely failed to rebrand. complying with the rebrand is to accept and legitimize what he did.

calling it twitter does not benefit him at all. using the site does bc it gives him ad revenue.

stay focused on impact. 💜

I'm so sorry it's been hard for you. The surgery situation sounds awful. 💔

You're not alone. Anytime you want to vent lmk. This shit is hard.

In my experience, almost no one knows how to identify autism or characteristics unless they're in our spaces.*

I def wish I'd known earlier, but the DSM has also been slow to evolve and update and include multiple genders in their research. We probably wouldn't have had a diagnosis earlier.

i think it's okay to feel hurt by comments like this. it's also okay to talk to them about things that affect you so that you can all learn to accommodate and adapt together.

half the battle for me rn is figuring out when i need accommodation, how to articulate, etc.

my last manager falsely reported me to hr for saying i told him to go eff himself during a meeting but he didnt know i recorded the call

but i'm the one who lost my job because they said it was *my* fault he acted that way

we're basically magnets 😂 but it can be hard to identify filks who are risky. i can more easily proactively identify folks who may manipulate from a place of insecurity, but i usually don't realize when someone's being malicious until i'm losing a job, basically 😭
