Every year my lawn guy calls and asks if I want him to start mowing my lawn with the rest of my neighbors, and every year I completely throw him for a loop by asking him to leave mine for an extra 2 weeks. Shes shaggy by now but we had a glorious couple weeks of wildflowers.

I wait until the flower fades and start to go to seed and then dig them out.

Thank you, Jake! That roundup needs to be banned! God how people have been brainwashed to think that dandelions are bad. Makes me so angry. We let the dandelions grow in our yard and the bees butterflies and other pollinators feed on them and so do the rabbits 💛🌼

AND, we need to actively encourage native wildflowers that native pollinators of all kinds are dependent on at every stage of the growing season!
Native pollinators evolved alongside native plants and are often especially adapted to access pollen from specific plants at specific times.

Or this. Dandelion wine is a golden-hued wine made by fermenting dandelion petals, citrus (lemon/orange), sugar, and yeast. A delicate, citrusy flavor compares to white grapefruit or honey. Requires foraging petals without bitter green parts, fermenting for 2–3 wks and aging for over several months.

Gather them and do this instead; if you’re interested, you can use the leaves and roots too, but that’s more labor. Just removing the yellow part will repair your wave of green grass.

Here it is, my annual reminder: don't spray spring dandelions with roundup. One flower can be visited by 100+ bees in a day, and your chemicals will kill all of them. 🌻
