Imagine showing a petrol engine to someone who had only known electric vehicles, and trying to convince them to switch to petrol. No-one would choose the dirty, noisy, less efficient, more expensive vehicle. This isn't 1910, hostage to gender insecurity. We can just choose the better tech.

On a different note, I believe communities and being truly human are the moat powerful way to counter this in the long run.

Peoole, communities are not businesses though. Businesses are a construct that so often goes totally against how people live and relate to each other, or even do their best work.

I think this approach will utterly fail, but it is doing so much damage in the meantime.

But it’s clear that they are literally trying to run countries like businesses, and that’s reflected in these “peace deals”, selling off chunks of land and resources, at the cost of people and communities.

Google boss says trillion-dollar AI investment boom has 'elements of irrationality' In an exclusive BBC interview, Sundar Pichai hailed artificial intelligence as an "extraordinary moment" but said no company would be immune if bubble burst.

You just wonder what all this integration will look like when the bubble bursts - and how quickly things can get rebuilt, if needed, after relevant people have been let go (just thought this article fits here) www.bbc.com/news/article...

In 2008, Google created an ad-powered wiki encyclopedia called Knol, seen as a "Wikipedia killer" amid its highly-publicized launch. And the Wikimedia Foundation gave an unbothered response that I quite like: "the more good free content, the better for the world." Anyway Knol instantly flopped

ICE targets immigrants.

RFK Jr targets the disabled, elderly & vulnerable.

The whole regime targets marginalized people, those living in poverty and LGBTQ+ individuals.

They’re targeting everyone who they’ve deemed “less than”.

Everyone is expendable under fascism. It comes for all eventually.

Astonishing evidence at the Covid Inquiry.

The Government repeatedly ignored offers from the Crick Institute to provide mass testing on a national scale.

Instead, the Government paid Deloitte consultants to project manage, not yet established, privately run labs.

Sign of the times: next week I'm going to a Pacific Northwest gravitational wave meeting at the LIGO site in Washington. The University of British Columbia sends ppl every year, but is not attending this time bc their university advises them to not cross the border into the US at this time.

🚨 The end of an era for global health data — and a defining crossroads.

In Jan 2025, the DHS Program—the backbone of health & demographic data in 90+ countries—was terminated after US aid cuts of up to 84%.

Our researchers & global collaborators reflect on it in a recent pre-print🧵

There is one place, however, where Musk, with the help of his minions, achieved his goals. He did indeed shred U.S.A.I.D. Though a rump operation is now operating inside the State Department, the administration says that it has terminated more than 80 percent of U.S.A.I.D. grants. Brooke Nichols, an associate professor of global health at Boston University, has estimated that these cuts have already resulted in about 300,000 deaths, most of them of children, and will most likely lead to significantly more by the end of the year. That is what Musk’s foray into politics accomplished.

Musk should be asked about this in every interview he does now and forever. To ignore it is a dereliction of duty.

I’m doing a sad chuckle since I just got a call about something that was urgent almost six months ago yesterday morning… (I missed the call, called back as instructed but without success - now waiting for another call, wondering if they’ve forgotten about me again or moved on)

be a shame if the TRAs were to bombard this thing with puerile gibberish in an attempt to derail it.

the bit about Africans being active in the slave trade is telling. it’s something that is only relevant if you think the point of discussing slavery is to disburse racial blame rather than understanding history.

Boycotting large chains is a privilege.

Protesting is a privilege.

Moving States or countries is a privilege.

Prepping is a privilege.

Growing your own food is a privilege.

Stockpiling meds is a privilege.

Far too many of the “solutions” to fascism are inaccessible to many disabled people.

RFK Jr talking about the need for doctors to know how to treat measles for those who are unvaccinated.

“Only very sick kids should die from measles.”

No. They shouldn’t. That was the point of the vaccine. We eradicated the virus so children didn’t die.

Sick & disabled kids are not expendable!

I hate seeing folks i agree with using gAI to make propaganda-style posters for things I support.

Y’all.

You cannot use the enemy’s tools to fight them. ESPECIALLY if you are arguing against capitalist overreach or for environmental issues. Come ON.

"WE'VE ARRANGED A society based on science and technology, in which nobody understands anything about science technology. And this combustible mixture of ignorance and power, sooner or later, is going to blow up in our faces. Who is running the science and technology in a democracy if the people don't know anything about it?"
"Science is more than a body of knowledge, it's a way of thinking. A way of skeptically interrogating the universe with a fine understanding of human fallibility. If we are not able to ask skeptical questions, to interrogate those who tell us that something is true, to be skeptical of those in authority, then we're up for grabs for the next charlatan, political or religious, who comes ambling along."

I think a lot about what Carl Sagan said in one of his final interviews.

These shirts are back by popular demand. I wish it was under better circumstances.

The US government is all in on deep sea mining 🤮
Time for us to get loud about our beloved freaks.

Start a conversation, get a shirt.
