In other other news, we're signing a lease on a new place in Detroit, so we're going to be housed next month! (For a year at least, after that, who knows?) Very excited to move to a city with so much badass stuff going on, and getting back involved with local things. Lansing is relaxing, but jeez.

In other news, we decided to check out the Lansing Zine Fest this afternoon, met a ton of cool folks, and I got a huge stash of sweet zines—some of which are awesome little rpgs—that I mostly traded Big Penny RPG for, so that rocks all around.

(Also pleased as punch that it's so completely unrelated to anyone or anything anywhere near here, so I can vent freely 😂)

I don't know why I expect adults in this year of our lord 2026 to not do the the highschool-ass "I'm friends with your* ex so I'm going to pretend you don't exist" bullshit, but here we are, lol.

In our first session of Mutant Year Zero, we built the Ark in the ruins of Highland Mall, the water supply got hosed, Boss Johammed made a power play, a Tiger Beat magazine entered the Dawn Vault, and our mutants organized some hunting parties to bump the Ark's food supply.

Boiling a couple of gallons of maple sap on the stove

Maple sap boiled down quite a bit

Almost but not quite to 219ºF

About a half cup of maple syrup, and the tree behind it is where the sap came from!

This year's maple run was pretty light for us, but I still managed to get about half a cup of delicious syrup from a couple gallons of sap. And bonus, now the house smells amazing.
