Spent the day yesterday in State Farm Arena doing a show, hanging in the media area during the draft, catching up with old friends, and enjoying one whale of an Atlanta Hawks draft.

I wouldn’t mind that hedge too much, but as it happens, I start to really like possible picks at those spots and hold my breath that they actually land there. If someone I really like is still there at 22, then I might shed a tear if that happened, but would like it for cap management purposes.

Good year to have two mid round-ish picks. Very flat after the top seven or so until the mid 20s.

Really not a fan of the Derik Queen archetype with the Hawks at 13 but would be willing to hear folks out on it. Right now I really think the wings are where it’s at for 13 and a big at 22.

And they will initially be over the second apron. And you lose the cost control of low first round picks to help the money efficiency. We are in the same page. Seems like trying to grab the brass ring next year or bust. Wonder if they whiffed on a Giannis deal and pivoted here.

Q and The Residence were the two shows that we absolutely watched the next episode without further discussion, the current litmus test to quality. The award show episode of The Studio (Thank you, Sal Saperstein!) has been the standout episode for me so far.

And I wanted Okongwu, though it was down to the two of them at the time. Liked them both. And Okongwu has been terrific. But there’s no lying to myself after this run.

One of those games when you tell yourself, trying to calm yourself as it is happening, that “they’ll pull it out, they’ve totally outplayed them all game, it’ll work out”, and then sports happens and you leave your seat just like that. Then you transpose that logic to the series outcome to console.
