I was glad to join Brahm at the #Nepean Museum in #collegeward this morning to review the results of the 2024 accessibility audit that is informing the Nepean museum washroom upgrades. If you would like to have more information on the work or have feedback, contact Brahm.lewandowski@ottawa.ca.

Citywide Street Sweeping Operations began in early April and will be coming to an end by May 31.
Residents can help by not parking on the street when you see street sweeping operations signs.
Once street sweeping is complete, crews will begin line painting and traffic calming reinstatement.

Yesterday, I gathered with colleagues to honour Roger Chapman, Chief, By-Law & Regulatory Services, who is retiring after 35 years of public service. Roger is from Nepean and worked for the City of Nepean prior to amalgamation. We hope you enjoy your retirement, Roger!
The Nepean Creative Arts Centre is a true #CollegeWard gem, offering classes, rehearsal space, studio space, and more. The City will be upgrading the facilities and is asking for your input.

I'm excited to share that my office has worked with the City's Recreation Department on the design of a new splash pad to be installed in Pinecrest Park!
The splash pad will be located near the playset off of Bloomsbury Crescent, and will provide a nice, cooling option for kids in the community.
Ending photo radar is hurting our community.
And now staff are saying that all taxpayers will have to pay for services like Adult Crossing Guards, where the photo radar fines used to pay for them, just as I predicted last summer.
It used to be if you did the crime you paid the fine. And now, the province says we all get to pay.
Automated Speed Enforcement (aka photo radar) was a proven deterrent to speeding in school zones. Since the Province took it away, speeding has heavily increased, putting our kids in #CollegeWard and across the city at risk.

This summer, we'll see upgrades to the washrooms at two #CollegeWard facilities: the Nepean Museum and Ben Franklin Place. In both cases, the washrooms are due for equipment replacement and will be upgraded to meet current accessibility standards.

The Ben Franklin Place rink is undergoing equipment upgrades this spring. Built in 1987, the refrigeration pipes have aged out, with increasing maintenance costs and system leaks. The new refrigeration system is expected to improve efficiency and might even lengthen the rink season!

Looking for used books? Meadowlands Public School is holding a BIG Book Sale on Sat, April 18, 9-2. It's at the school, 10 Fieldrow St. And the funds raised go to the school! Yay!
I was pleased to hear from the construction industry, from Algonquin College students, and from social agencies that this is a ground-breaking initiative that they are firmly behind.
This morning, I attended a Social Procurement Conference at TD Arena, bringing together subcontractors, diverse entrepreneurs, social impact suppliers, & employment agencies, providing opportunities to connect & identify potential job, contracting, & procurement opportunities for Lansdowne 2.0.
This will help ensure the project’s economic benefits flow back into Ottawa’s communities across our entire city.

Last fall, I introduced a motion during the Lansdowne 2.0 debate to include Social Procurement in the project. It connects contractors and subcontractors with local social enterprises, workforce agencies and diverse-owned businesses.
