An adorable duck, wearing a red night cap, sleeps soundly under a beautiful quilt in a wooden bedā¦beside him on the floor are his bunny slippers, and a candle holder and recently blown out candle.. his wallpaper is a fun pink and outside the bedroom window the man in the moon is smiling, perhaps asleep.
I love this duckā¦sending you off tonight with the nostalgic world of Richard Scarry. Sweet dreams, everyone ā„ļøāØ
A stoic red fox gazes up at his old friend the owl flying overhead, to say hello -in a lush and blooming green field surrounded in flowers, budding trees, butterflies, and another animal in the far distance, possibly a horse, grazing, or a larger fox looking down. A dark blue sky is blanketed in beautiful stars and a crescent moon shines warmly overhead.
Wishing you all a peaceful night with our old friends, the fox & the owl. Sweet dreams, everyone ā„ļø (art Jo Grundy)
In late spring, we see a low full moon beautifully illuminating an entire landscape. And in the foreground are long, thin older trees encircling an old dirt path that leads down to a shimmering, placid lakeā¦and in the distance, are low, rolling hills lush and green in the springtime moonlight.

A mix of friendly & smaller woodland enjoy a late night snack next to a roaring fire underground, beneath their tree home. And overhead, toadstools grow, and sheep graze, while a woman walks her dog and walks home. Itās a very cosy scene with the animals reading their books, enjoying their friendship, their snacks and their snug environment.
the coziest home ever

Various animals roam the forest quietly at night & are seen in gold/gilt silhouette as the print is embossed on the older book cover. Trees surround them, and a stream flows beside them, as a crescent moon glows above them.
older book beauty for you
The Springtime Splendor of Mount Yoshino This high-angle photograph by Rickuz captures the breathtaking landscape of Mount Yoshino in Nara, Japan, during the peak of cherry blossom season. The composition reveals a dense, undulating carpet of pale pink and white sakura trees that blanket the mountainside, interspersed with the dark, evergreen foliage of native cedar and cypress. Winding through this floral expanse is a traditional village, its dark-roofed buildings and temple structuresāmost notably the grand Kinpusen-jiāclinging to the ridges. The scene is a definitive example of hanami (flower viewing) culture, where the ephemeral beauty of the blossoms transforms the rugged topography into a soft, ethereal tapestry. The rhythmic, repetitive clusters of cherry blossoms and the way they soften the mountain's contours reflect a long-standing Japanese appreciation for the beauty found in natural density and seasonal transition.

Itās fun to spot details for sureā¦my alt description focuses just on the main scene. Thanks, Marianne! āŗļø
Jane Eyre & Mr. Rochester embrace beneath ancient, gnarled trees below a gothic, windy sky & full moon in this woodcut-esque illustration, which is deliberately stark & artistically graphic in its contrasts.

A deer pauses in a clearing in the woods and stands in dark silhouette. While two dark & ancient trees comprise the foreground & midground, there were as streams of light shine upon the clearing in these mysterious woods.

I taught ESL in Cuba, & believe me, the Cubans know how to savour life fully. So living each day consciously is vitalā¦no day is promised, as they say, & so being present is so key to a well-lived life, to my mind. Thank you, Jim. We Canadians stood with our American friends on 9/11 & still do ā„ļøš 2/2
