It's Lower Wacker Driver.... say no more! But yeah, say more...
Three months after Ottawa removed its automatic safety cameras, the share of drivers following the speed limit plunged from 87% to 41%(!). "High-end speeding" is up 10x.
Automatic enforcement saves lives. If you remove it, people will die.
I love this idea, but shared bikes and scooters are still way to expensive in the Twin Cities. $5 will get you only 11 minutes or so of riding here...

Wow! The Minneapolis speed cameras actually work...

Saint Paul faces real challenges, but I’m still optimistic. I’ve seen the momentum firsthand at @sustainstpaul.bsky.social, with community members, partners, and local leaders all stepping up.
Every gift this month is matched up to $1,500. Help us get there: www.sustainstpaul.org/donate
This cannot be stated enough. As the world burns, and people keep getting run over by cars and trucks, and gasoline is starting to cost what it should but for the wrong reasons, well hey @mayorher.bsky.social despite what SOS says I can't wait for the Summit Avenue protected bicycle lanes 💥👍💯🚲
So so many problems we individually and collectively face would get better or just go away.
Universal health care when?
Please, I am begging people: never again repeat the claim that only two people were killed in the occupation of Minnesota.
“With each day”??? Heck no!! This was clear from the very start. Stop normalizing this completely corrupt regime.
Actually "rethinking" I-94 is more than just rebuilding the highway assuming that nothing changes. We must start with a vision for what we want our communities to look like. THEN we figure out the transportation networks that will best promote healthy, sustainable, prosperous neighborhoods.
If you are following MnDOT's Rethinking I-94 project and are intrigued by the ideas like Twin Cities Boulevard that really reimagine this corridor, BUT you still wonder to yourself "Where will all the cars go?", then you have to read this excellent piece!
This event is TOMORROW/THURSDAY EVENING! I highly recommend it. What Saint Paul, and Minneapolis and the rest of the core of our region, needs is MORE DEVELOPMENT to drive Lower Taxes AND More Services. Come hear how this works...
Tracked this for a while on another Transdev route. Eventually decided it was more productive to look out the window.
But...while you are at it, also note whether the bill reader is working. Cuz 75% of the time on those same buses, the bill reader was quoting Holy Grail "NONE SHALL PASS".
Originally intended to get around the lack of pictures in direct messages, this banger is doing numbers so I guess I’ll leave it ….
I can only take credit for helping with the design. But it is indeed a great shirt!!

Are there any empty crates lying about?
I know a lot of folks like these spaces and the enjoy events there. I just hope the event organizers consider those who don't feel as welcome or as comfortable there. Like me, they tend to stay home, leaving energy and ideas, and probably some money, off the table.
It's not just the focus on drinking as the center of social interaction, though I note that that the majority of attendees get in their cars to drive home after. These spaces are really not conducive to quality interaction. They tend to be loud and designed for small groups, not large ones.
I'm know I'm probably just too old and too dry, but I am getting tired of almost every organization holding their public events at brew pubs. And equally tired how many have so few options besides alcohol. Do we really have no other third spaces for fundraisers and celebrations?
also a great day to give to those in need....help out a neighbor or www.standwithminnesota.com
Just getting to chapters 8 and 9 now. I feel like I've heard this story recently...
Okay maybe that map is really bad.... Cuz Route 63 can do WAY more than that.. Sigh..
Overlaid isochrone maps showing areas reached by driving and transit.
I can't vouch for the accuracy of the data or methodology, but this cool tool at CommuteTimeMap.com is a fun way to visualize the difference. (Here is 45 minutes by transit vs. 30 minutes by car from Grand & Victoria)
Freeways have also warped our sense of distance. 26th & Hennepin to Victoria & Grand is about 10 miles. Similar to the distance from Lower Manhattan to Washington Heights. And that trip on transit in NYC takes about 40 minutes, vs. an hour to get from The Wedge to Cafe Latte (or Mischief...).
I'm not sure our core urban form in the areas that are being discussed is necessarily to blame for this difference. Our over-investment in urban freeways matched with underinvestment in transit speed leads to a huge disparity.

Highlighting the speaker who stood in front of the Surprise mayor and told him to consider what the Mayor of Ohrdruf must’ve thought before he died by suicide: “He might have thought ‘how is this my fault I had no jurisdiction over this’ maybe he said ‘this site was not subject to local zoning.’”
