At the end of the #mariners New Dads commercial, when the players raise their hands and say "aye" with their babies in their laps, I see Luke Raley's daughter Reagan do the "So Big" with both arms as the dads raise their hands. And every time, I feel the same giggly glee.

Mariners game over. Tomorrow's game on AppleTV. So MarinersTV has about 45 hours to sell advertising to ANYONE BUT GOOGLE CLOUD so I can see that same damn ad fewer than 898 times on Saturday night. Get to work, sales staff.
Hello, fellow #educoach friends--
Here is a link to the latest on my instructional coaching blog. It's about whether the best teachers become the best instructional coaches--or the worst ones. (In sports, great players are often terrible coaches.) Let me know what you think, either here or there!
Hi, #educoach friends:
My current coaching blog post is up now. It's about how to endow a teacher with that sixth sense of whether a class is "with you" or not.
My thoughts on this are very much nascent, so I would love to hear your opinions on this, whether here or there.
I will grant that people have lost their bacon over the cheating scandal and never got it back. But I've not seen anything outside of those dozen players or so. Sorry you have had bad experiences.
Sorry about the asshole contingent. I guarantee it isn't 90% I was in the stands Friday for the HPB, shouting "Don't be jerks!" Any number is too many.
Next time you are in the Pacific Northwest, let me take you to a game. You will find we are almost all quirky and depressed rather than mean.
Hey, #educoach friends:
Here is my latest post on my coaching blog. It's about noise in the classroom: what is tolerable and what is not (inspired by a very chatty, social, noisy cohort of kids). I'd love to know what you think of it, either in a reply here or in a comment there. Thanks!
Also, today is the first day in the 13.8 billion years since the dense single point of the universe began expanding with the Big Bang that the @mariners.com could win a game to go to the World Series.

@ewstats.com Am I right that the Cubs only need to score 83 runs on Tuesday for them to get to 200 runs for September, double the Bears' total?
We have been acculturated over our lifetimes to understand that we are not allowed to have our own year.
Dan Wilson played for the Mariners when they last won the AL West in 2001. Now he manages them
He’s the 3rd individual to play for & then manage sequential division titles for a team, joining:
Craig Counsell MIL (2011 plyr, ‘18 mgr)
Bruce Bochy SD (1984, ‘96)

Welcome. Plenty of room.
we might get both
@ewstats.com A's are eliminated from 2nd in the AL West after yesterday's victories by Seattle and Houston.
Hi, #educoach and other educator friends:
Here is the latest on my coaching blog. It's about what we mean when we talk about "relationship" in a teacher-student context, especially when the kid is misbehaving. As always, let me know what you think about it.

12 for the division w/Houston. 10 for the wild card with Texas.
The dudes never really bothered me except once: last year, I went to the day game when Taylor Swift was playing at Lumen at night. They were harassing the teen/tween girls going to the concert. That was gross. But beyond that, whatever...on my way in, I say to my family "Hey! Jesus guys are here!"
A question for my #educoach friends...
I am thinking of running a "book club" this fall where teachers read articles about AI and education. I've rounded up a few but am looking for more. What articles have you read that would promote good discussion? Thanks in advance.
Hi, #educoach friends. I hope your years are starting well!
Here is the latest on my coaching blog. It's about who I want to embody as I go through the 25/26 school year. I would love to know what you think of it--and who you want to embody this year.

I have decided it is a song about a terrifying moment for our nation where we were terrified...unsure whether tyranny would win out in the big battle. The next morning, we were delighted to see our fight had not been in vain. Tyranny had been defeated.
I find that a comforting song for this moment.
How did you read my last work evaluation
Most. Not all.
@ewstats.com can put the Rockies All-Star prediction to bed as TRUE. Michael is on the board!
Aare you sure it was today?
I think it was the Fourth of July...
If y'all like #baseballparks, you might like the latest writing I've done at my ballpark website, paulsballparks.substack.com. I have new pieces on ballparks in Newport, Hartford, Binghamton, Rochester, and Columbus, and an update on Fenway, which I just re-visited. Let me know your thoughts.
That was both immensely unlikely and completely predictable. #mariners
Out of all of the professional reading I've done, Kylene Beers' work was the most helpful to my teaching practice. I refer to her often in my #educoach life as well. I've had Beers' work in my brain for 20 years. I never met her and still feel this loss acutely. RIP, brilliant colleague.
