I find that term varies in context. "Grounded" sometimes just means "not anime, not 'cartoon'". But usually it means you have to actually know *why* your character is using the words they are, the tone - so it sounds like something an actual person might say.
Now let's try to take over the world.
In third grade - when cursive instruction began - I did not get straight A's for the entire year. The sole reason for this was that my 3rd grade homeroom teacher *wrote in* an additional grade category on my report card labeled "Penmanship" and gave me a "C".
I gave 0 shits about grades after that.
One of my "fun" school anecdotes:
When I was in second grade, me and one of my best friends were the only two students in the entire K-6 school to get straight A's for the entire year. Our homeroom teacher took us to McDonald's for lunch.
