Not sure if someone else has already pointed this out: the indictment against SPLC has multiple counts for false statements to a bank, 18 USC 1014. Theory explicitly stated in indictment is that certifications to open accounts were “false or misleading.”

But there’s a problem:

Who would’ve thought that a library campaign add from 2002, illustrating the dangers of censorship and book banning would be so relevant today? I remember seeing this commercial “in the wild.” And thinking “Could you imagine?” lol yes, yes I could imagine.

"...you soup fork" is particularly apt.

It's remarkable how many people have never worked through the implications of Searle's "Chinese Room" thought experiment.

We don't teach epistemology before college, and without that knowledge, chatbots feed into our social wiring with positive reinforcement we're not prepared for.

The components for iron salt batteries are cheap and generally non toxic.

Efficiency is currently about 70%, which isn't as good as thermal systems, but it is useful at any scale.

I'm hopeful about iron salt batteries for grid storage.

Yeah, ZERO shade to the good 'uns (NOT looking at YOU, Dim Cain), but Reeve was just as excellent a person in real life as his character was on the screen.

In March the Vatican's International Theological Commission published a brick of a document, Latin title and everything, critiquing looksmaxxers, tradwives, and tech bros who perform Catholicism online but have a shallow engagement with it, more or less telling them to log off and talk to people.

Since the word "patronage" is there I'm assuming it's expensive. The biggest and most closeted kink is transgression. So what patrons would get is no questions asked access to a shapeshifter who can become anyone. Coworker, relative, celebrity, teenager...

Now that the alien’s have fixed the gravity issue at the outerspace sex club they have put you in charge of increasing human patronage. You have an inter-dimensional portal to pull from. What magical ppl, humans or other do you think will increase interest in the club?

I'm going to use that as the name for a weird alien.

The way I see it, a sedan (with a trunk) is not a particularly efficient design.

Take the volume above the trunk and behind the passengers, and you get a hatchback, station wagon, or SUV (depending on how big the sedan was), without a whole lot of extra structure.

The concept goes back even further: "Cui Bono?" is recorded in a speech by Cicero.

I need to issue a public acknowledgment of @scottcrawford.org, because he introduced two concepts to our mutual community when I was about 16, and at the time, I didn't understand, but every year, he has been proven more right.

Always ask two questions:

Follow the money.

It, again, truly doesn't matter whether vibecoding actually caused the outages or not - when you start bragging about how claude is making every engineer on staff more productive and the site goes through months of persistent downtime, that's a Statement.

Reminds me a bit of Simon Stålenhag.

That's intended as a deep compliment, I love Simon Stålenhag's work.
