Watch this in-depth @pydata.bsky.social 2024 tutorial on how to write a web app in #PyScript. It highlights the use of #LTK and shows a couple of applications that leverage both #MicroPython and #PyOdide, use external JS libraries, and import packages from #PyPI.
The PSF is excited to share that Thomas Wouters has been awarded our Distinguished Service Award for his 25 years of service, dedication, and behind-the-scenes work which have helped shape the PSF and the #Python community into what they are today 👏👏
I paid for my hotel, PyCon registration, and flight from Amsterdam a while back, so the lost-cause syndrome is quite strong. I am also involved directly in some events, so I will go. My plane still has 120 empty seats. Hopefully, the PyCon organization will survive the situation financially.
I guess that's the underlying idea of duckdb.
MicroPython is only 240K and starts in 80ms.

Happy Ground-Hog Day!
I just finished my FOSDEM talk about #PyScript in the #Python dev room. As usual, people loved getting free copies of the C4E books just for asking questions at the end of the talk. Check out Lifesaver Coach if you want to become a Happy Engineer yourself.
Try it at lifesaver.coach and receive a free book that will make you a more productive, effective, and happy software engineer.
Here is my suggested update... 🤓
I have written a book and taught masterclasses called "Communication for Engineers." Next up is Lifesaver, a Chrome browser extension. Question for you: As an engineer, what features should the tool have? What problems are you facing the most in your career? How can Lifesaver help?
Hopefully, you can make it. It will be my first visit to FOSDEM, but not Brussels.
See also #PyScript #LTK. It is all Python, client-side rendering of interactive browser-based Python apps. pyscript.github.io/ltk/?tab=3
Why does the USA need an "inauguration fund"?
I once attended a masterclass on visualizations by Edward Tufte. His books are classics. I assume you know about them? Here is a quick overview: www.bravethewoods.com/blog/edward-...
In August of this year, Google will shut down its goo.gl URL shortener. 1.6M URLs are using this shortener on GitHub, and they will all start failing 8 months from now.
A search on GitHub for "azureedge.net" returns 164K hits. Turn off your TVs on January 15, don't fly in a plane, don't drive a car, and don't use any computer! 🤓
One pack costs you 7 hours of your life. My mom was a heavy smoker. If she had not smoked that much, statistically speaking, she would still be with us this Holiday period. 😞
Using PySheets (pysheets.app), I had an AI convert the data in this report into a single picture. The trend: We increasingly use Python standalone and less together with other languages. What browser apps will you write in 2025 using #PyScript and LTK, github.com/pyscript/ltk? How can I help you?

Lovely use of embeddings space to explore works at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
My talk at FOSDEM 2025 has been scheduled in the Python track. See you in Brussels on February 2? fosdem.org/2025/schedul...
I wrote the "Communication for Engineers" book, chrislaffra.com/c4e.html. It does not really use Python, but I also wrote pyalgoviz.appspot.com, which has about 90 different algorithms written in Python and visualized in Python. 🤓
