Penelope pressed her lips together to keep from smiling at the flabbergasted look on Anthony’s face. He turned to Colin, “Evidently, you have not only led Penelope astray, which again, I can do little about, since she is now your wife, but you have allowed Eloise to know of your inappropriate behavior and corrupted—” Colin scoffed at the same time that Eloise let out a laugh of disbelief. “You think Colin would corrupt me? He is literally obsessed with being a gentleman.” Penelope knew it would not help matters, but she could not contain her giggle.

Penelope’s eyes filled with tears. “I have heard you say that before, or another version of you anyhow, but I am not sure I truly believed it. I always assumed something shifted. He talked about the letters a lot, and I always thought he would not have loved me without them.” “Hmm, I do think they are telling. I carried them with me when I went to Greece. And I do not just mean the ones you sent me during the trip. I brought every letter you had ever written me. Even my mother told me she knew that the letters I sent to you from Eton were longer and more frequent than those I sent her.” Colin touched her cheek again, unable to stop himself. “The letters were more a symptom than a cause. I wrote you because I already loved you. Even if I was too much of a fool to know it.”

This is honestly the funniest fic I have ever read. It’s perfect!

I spent the evening rewatching an episode of Bridgerton with frequent pauses while my spouse knelt in front of our tv to see specific details while I took notes. At least once, I said something wouldn’t work for this version of Colin. The point is that I’m unhinged and take a lot of notes 😆

Falling Forward “And now, you are my homeland”

Another completed fic of mine is Falling Forward. Colin goes to bed after returning from Greece in 1813 (2x02), but then wakes up in 1816 to find he’s married to Penelope and has a son.
