Ive been toying w the idea of working on poems that are NOT AI (i want to be clear) but written as if they are AI, but tweaked in some way. Painting of a photograph kind of thing… i have a deep aversion to the Kenneth Goldsmith type conceptual poetry, so the tweak / flaw would have to be gold (ha)

in some ways my writing feels very adrift from that time, adrift in completely starting anew, but having this liminal pre-Anya space that is nonetheless kind of a dead space for me. I've been writing sff for almost thirty years now but it feels like I'm also constantly just beginning.

It was a finalist for the Crawford, its title story was shortlisted for the O.Henry, and it's been my only book to earn out! But it was written by a person I only now barely recognize, perhaps only in the outlines of the struggle of someone having no way to know how to be free.

my first collection of stories came out under my deadname almost exactly 20 years ago. I put my two collections out of print (w the help of Small Beer, ty Gavin) so I have complicated feelings about that book. But I am very fond of some of the stories too.

i'm glad big outlets are writing about the shit that's happening to trans people, but it would be nice if there was an opportunity for trans people to tell these stories so we don't have to do this dance of "will reading this make me dissociate a little"
