Hope he's ok, give him a gentle hug from me.
A rediscovered treasure from 2015:
The endgame of AI is that everyone has to rely upon the magic box to tell them everything they need to know. All hidden behind a paywall. No money = no knowledge. We're sleepwalking into capitalist idiocy.

A packet of Galaxy minstrel mini eggs and a wedge of Lidl brie with cream cheese and chives on a wooden cutting board.
I was looking forward to these, but I can't eat either. Why the **** have they put Rapeseed Oil in chocolate and cheese? Lucky I checked the ingredients as I usually consider both chocolate & cheese to be safe 😱
Aww no, hope you feel better soon & might find a little bit of fun this weekend. Hugs.
I worked hard to become a writer. And I enjoy being a writer. I'm not here to let techbro robots take that shit away from me.
Oh so now copyright matters.
Congrats 👏👏👏
wouldn't it be funny if EVERYONE blocked this Attie AI account @ bsky.app/profile/atti... before they could do anything with it

heads up - block this account. It's scraping bsky data to make a 'trading and selling people' game from our profiles, opt out only. 🤮🤮🤮

Squeezed by data centers' relentless demand for electricity, a Nevada energy company just said it's going to stop supplying energy to Tahoe. The city has a year to figure out how to meet 75% of its energy needs without it.
I will never use AI to write anything. Even if it weren't ethically dubious, using AI to write is like having a robot do the reps during weight lifting. Your writing skills will deteriorate. Your voice will atrophy. I genuinely don't understand why any writer would do it. Makes no sense.

Dear everyone,
As per the post from the Bodleian librarian below, AI bots and scrapers are putting just about every website under great pressure, British History Online included.
A lot of excellent tech staff are working hard to keep everything working, but outages and siruptions are inevitable.
Today, we're publishing Don't Steal This Book - a (mostly) empty book from almost 10,000 authors, protesting the theft of their work by AI companies.

Snap! It was supposed to be baked spuds, but it's too late to cook them now.
Copying files from one ssd to another is worse than waiting for the washing machine to finish. It has said time remaining is about 5 seconds for over an hour now. The washer isn't good at guessing time but is better than that.
This is the warning on the blood pressure monitor my dad just got.
Exceptional work. Anybody know what the fuck it’s supposed to mean?
Last line is especially ominous
Utterly perfect last ep of Call the Midwife s15. So many story threads tied up, but so much left for the future. Can't wait to see the prequel series 👏👏👏👏
This - after a public consultation that came down c95% against corporate copyright theft - is a hearty move towards this government’s spineless purchased representatives needing to be hoofed in the crotch by us all, in a big queue until they get the message.
Today marks the first day of meteorological spring 🌷
March has arrived, and with it comes longer, lighter days. Over the next few weeks most of us will enjoy around two extra hours of daylight ☀️
Really excellent @scribelounge.bsky.social 10 page swap & discussion tonight. Particularly useful notes exchanged.
Congrats. That's brilliant 👏👏👏
Naming this garbage-machine after Albert Einstein is insulting on so so many levels.
