"AI is killing PRDs," and PMs are freaking out

I don’t know about you, but I don’t mind having to write fewer specs

If creating PRDs was most of the value you added to the company as a PM, I have some bad news for you 😬

We intentionally made the home page look imperfect.

People are creating professional landing pages using AI. All looking the same.

So we designed a landing page AI wouldn't to stand out. Smart or nah?

do you hire devs without coding skills?

Big AI keeps claiming dev jobs will disappear “soon,” but that hasn’t happened.

Are companies at least valuing traits like curiosity and learning ability over coding knowledge now?

Or do entry-level devs still need solid coding skills?

Tech colleagues are pretty much divided right now. One group is extremely excited about AI and more pumped to work than ever before. The other group feels insecure, uninspired, and burned out.

The two groups are not of equal size.

Netflix shouldn’t stop at Warner Bros. They should go on to acquire Amazon Prime, Disney+, Hulu and all of them!

I know that would create a monopolistic market, but I really miss the days when having just one streaming subscription was enough. 😬

“Inconclusive” product experiments are a favorite tool of mediocre PMs.

They create the illusion of progress while producing zero learning.

A well-designed experiment guarantees validated insights.

A bad one just makes the team look busy.

Product people, which is you go to sketching tool? I go first: @excalidraw.com heads down the best sketching tool for me. I've been using it for years and tried many different tools, but in the end, I always come back to it.

The new Posthog website is an absolute masterpiece.
This is how I picture the PM's pitch:
- PM: "I suggest rebuild the website to look like a retro OS. It'll take 2-3 months"
- Leadership: "Why would we do that?"
- PM: "Its gonna go viral on Linkedin"
- Leadership: "Ok"

Well done Posthog

The other day, I was telling my family how I can see AI making PM work obsolete. They’re not tech folks, so they couldn’t even grasp how that would be possible.

“but who’s going to tell the team what to do?”

Up until now, I’ve always done it by mistake, but you can trigger it by swiping down on the white line at the bottom of your screen that you use to switch apps
