As an Americana musician leaning to the country side of things, I stumbled upon this breakdown of terms/sub-genres that was super helpful and taught me some stuff. You may not “need to label”, but when you publish and promote your work it’s important to use terms that fit your songs and intention.

Nice! Yea I like to have that plucky country guitar tone and you really can’t get it quite right with a Strat, although I play a lot of blues now too. You can’t go wrong with the typical 2 single-coil pickup Tele and used Mexican Fenders are budget friendly and play just fine.
Wow appreciate that! I got this guitar used, it’s a Power Tex-Mex telecaster - so 3 pickups with a Strat arrangement. Fishman bridge pickup for acoustic tones and a 5-way switch. It’s definitely hard to keep track of all the variations, especially with all of the signature models now!
