What would I do without your mentorship?

Help! For the second time this month I've discovered a bee trapped between my window pane and the screen and I really have no idea how this is happening or how to fix it.

Health Care Has Become the Lifeblood of the Labor Market

(Adding to the The Discourse™ on this article) It's hard not to think about hospitals/health systems transform areas into modern coal/steel "company towns." The example of 50% of a county's workers being employed at Geisinger Health is eye-popping!

Anyone have a good source for how interprovider payment happens in global capitation? For example: if you’re a PCP with Blue Cross HMO global capitation and your patient needs an MRI, how is the reimbursement amount negotiated?

This would be an interesting descriptive exercise if anyone has the data (which sadly I don't)!

Do we know what percent of people actually meet their deductible in marketplace plans? I know there are papers on overall spending among ACA enrollees.

I think there's a threshold (which maybe even bronze plans surpass) where the deductible is so high it's almost passing risk on from the insurer to the provider (in the sense that they will probably not recoup the full deductible if someone has a major procedure).

Rob Reiner Once Played a Congressman on Television YouTube video by CyberDurden

Rob Reiner will be remembered for his many, many accomplishments but I would be remiss if I didn't point out the time he played a Congressman at an anti-trust hearing!

Had a claim denied by Aetna but joke’s on them because I’m a health economist on furlough. Bet they’ve never seen an appeal with a “methods” section before.
