Trump’s Cuts to Science Funding Could Hurt U.S. Economy, Study Shows (Gift Article) Reducing federal support for research and development could cause long-run economic damage and reduce government revenue.

FYI, I collected links to what the IMLS funds in most of each of the US states and they're in here so you can know on a state and sometimes even local level what is going to be severely impacted very very soon.

SCOOP: DOGE notified the Institute of Museum and Library Sciences (IMLS) today that the entire staff is being put on administrative leave effective immediately, I’ve learned from an agency source.

They’ll be cancelling huge swaths of grants/contracts and starting a Reduction in Force (RIF).

Trump and Musk are absolutely destroying Indian colleges, which are federally funded as part of the government's trust obligation to tribes. Haskell, which is here in Lawrence, is the oldest Indian college in the US. DOGE even fired the women's basketball coach, during the season!

To the Editor:

The most recent liberal apoplectic panic revolves around the issue of the USAID or the United States agency for international development. This agency is a liberal slush fund intended to spread liberal ideology to foreign countries.
Examples are:
• $1.5 million to “advance diversity equity and inclusion in Serbia’s workplaces and business communities”
• $70,000 for production of a “DEI musical” in Ireland
• $2.5 million for electric vehicles for Vietnam
• $47,000 for a “transgender opera” in Colombia
• $32,000 for a “transgender comic book” in Peru
• $2 million for sex changes and “LGBT activism” in Guatemala
• $6 million to fund tourism in Egypt
• Hundreds of thousands of dollars for a non-profit linked to designated terrorist organizations — even AFTER an inspector general launched an investigation
• Millions to EcoHealth Alliance — which was involved in research at the Wuhan lab
• “Hundreds of thousands of meals that went to al Qaeda-affiliated fighters in Syria”
• Funding to print “personalized” contraceptives birth control devices in developing countries
• Hundreds of millions of dollars to fund “irrigation canals, farming equipment, and even fertilizer used to support the unprecedented poppy cultivation and heroin production in Afghanistan,” benefiting the Taliban.

White House pauses all federal grants, sparking confusion The Trump administration has put a hold on all federal financial grants and loans, affecting tens of billions of dollars in payments.

If this grant "freeze" holds, it is essentially a hostile takeover by Trump of Congress's authority to allocate federal resources.

This single action makes every federal grant subject to individual approval by one of Trump's political appointees.

It's sheer chaos.

NIH funding supports the vast majority of all biomedical research in the United States. Virtually every advance in American medicine and biological science comes from NIH. This is a blow against American science.

Call Congress, 202-224-3121.
