All of what you said is also true, GTFO is a puzzle game masquerading as a horror coop game.

The puzzle is also not just in the missions, your loadouts for said missions is also a puzzle, each tool and weapon as a niche to fullfil so that part can be tricky.

GTFO is difficult but good, having a full squad is a must for some missions though even if it is just AI squad mates, but players are better.
