Me the next time a faculty member talks about using chatgpt: Hey FYI you should use Micromedex instead of relying on genAI for dosage information if you're planning to poison one of your colleagues

We're hiring a social sciences librarian who will have evidence synthesis responsibilities. ✨ Sharing here because that might intrigue some of you ✨! Also, some of you might like to live in Minnesota for reasons. 💙🏳️🌈 🛶🌳❄️🌲⛸️🌌...

You can nominate a humanitarian archive, record, or dataset at risk using this short anonymous form: www.qualtrics.manchester.ac.uk/jfe/form/SV_... . #MedLibs folks, might be a good time to check global public health libguides for candidates

The courtyard behind the Health Sciences Library is at peak beauty today
Have you ever gotten an email so extra you want someone to FOIA it just so that everyone else can drink the haterade with you?
More genAI horror stories for the #MedLibs file

😍😍😍
(and/or ask your librarians to get a copy!)
Did you know that apparently the NIH had the option to "donate the journal to a non-governmental publisher through the Federal Surplus Personal Property Donation Program" (?????) or did you also ask your computer WTF?
Yet another episode in my least favorite saga, ACM UX (or as I like to call it, The computing people ironically have the worst designed/hardest to search database)

Tracking down altered vaccine, health equity, GSM care content and dead links hiding in my public health library guides and presentations feels like a sadder, higher stakes version of a zombie-hunter video game. Your familiar, trusted loved one [CDC] is actually a monster [agent of misinformation]!
My PNC-MLA presentation about the Pairwise PubMed Search Generator has been posted!
In it, I put the tool in context and give a demo at the end.

From the German National Library of Medicine, beta version of site for tracking additions and deletions to PubMed now available #medlibs
This will be a tremendously helpful time saver, thank you so much for sharing it!
Once I saw a paper on condom use among bear-bear* couples that was indexed under the Animal Studies heading in PSYCinfo. Always test your filters, #MedLibs friends
*It was for a review on a gender & sexuality topic, so yeah. That kind of bear.
I was so offended by this video the NC State Health Plan sent us that I called Treasurer Briner. Duke Health: nonprofit health system whose workers provide lifesaving care. Aetna: corporate overhead that unfairly denies claims to enrich its investors. Obviously siding w/Duke

I'm disappointed to see that the new tool requires sign up - I generally recommended the SR Accelerator tool (or really Polyglot and occasionally others) to grad students doing mini versions of SRs, who don't need project management or the full linear suite of tools.
Seems like they're trying to capture citations and other bibliometric data - it's not clear to me that the actual libguide text is captured, maybe just the link data?
Just learned that OpenAlex is indexing libguides, which is a fun way to discover just how badly you've done at updating your libguide metadata 😬
Having a front row seat for @profsorelle.bsky.social's journey from student to tenured professor has been inspirational and I am so incredibly proud to be her partner. And while I wish *gestures around* were going better, I'm determined to celebrate this hard-won and well-deserved accomplishment!

Brick building with a large blue sign that reads Welcome to Gillings, we're glad you're here
Orientation hits different this year, but I get to keep meeting new people who are dedicated to tackling public health challenges and telling them how I can help. I'm holding onto that encouraging thought with both hands.
Being optimistic in these times is a challenge, but if you are a #librarian working in #healthsciences or #medlibs and want to either volunteer to be a promotion letter writer OR find librarians to do this for you, please take a look at this project: osf.io/e7mb2/
Please share widely :)
Those who have not turned on these AI assistants made a smart choice. Great breakdown of how library vendor databases / discovery tools are blocking results for controversial topics
