The governor is finally listening. A tax on luxury second homes is an important step in the right direction. Shoutout to Mayor Mamdani for championing this. But $500M against a $5.4B deficit? We're not done. The movement doesn't stop here.

NYSNA Board Member Sonia Lawrence, BSN, RN, spoke outside NYC Health + Hospitals/ Lincoln to demand state lawmakers protect the Essential Plan.
With nearly half a million NYers at risk of losing Essential Plan coverage, we must take action to ensure all patients get the care they need.
Women at Bedford Hills are being locked in their cells for 24 hours a day, screaming, banging on doors, going without showers or indoor recreation. This has turned from maximum security to de facto solitary, and it's illegal under NY law. We must do better.

During the week of Passover, we celebrate freedom and the idea that we are constantly moving toward a better future. Chag Pesach Sameach to all my constituents who celebrate!
Yesterday was Transgender Day of Visibility, and in light of federal cuts, we see you, we support you, we stand with you.
Today, I am proud to announce that we passed the budget, taxed the ultra-wealthy, 50 million people have their healthcare, protected the CLCPA without a single rollback, and passed NY4All.

No hero is beyond accountability. The abuse allegations against César Chávez are indefensible. The farmworker movement he helped build belongs to the workers, the women, the organizers- not any one man. We honor the movement by holding all of it accountable. #BelieveSurvivors

"So when we look at what Washington is doing with the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) gutting graduate student loan access, making healthcare education something only the already comfortable can afford, we take it personally."

New York is for all of us.
As we begin to discuss immigration reforms in this year's budget, I am advocating for the protections of New York for All to be codified into law.
My immigrant neighbors are living in fear and uncertainty - it's up to us to fight back.
Organizing gets the goods. Congratulations and solidarity forever!
Violence against our elderly neighbors is something I refuse to accept. My office is open to any residents of Ebbets Field who need additional support during this time. (4/4)
Both women were rushed to Kings County Hospital. Tragically, one victim was pronounced deceased, while the other remains critically injured. My heart goes out to both victims and their families during this devastating time. (3/4)
At approximately 10:30 PM, police responded to a call at 1700 Bedford Ave., where officers found two elderly women had been stabbed with scissors: a 74-year-old with wounds to her head and arms, and a 72-year-old stabbed multiple times in her back and arm. (2/4)
I am horrified and heartbroken by a brutal act of violence that occurred Saturday night in Ebbets Field. Our community is in mourning of our elderly by this senseless act of violence. (1/4)
From @nysfocus.bsky.social : "This week’s bill, introduced by Salazar and Assemblymember Phara Souffrant Forrest, would require all prison employees to pass through body scanners “or an alternate method of screening.”

The nurses at the Brooklyn Hospital Center, who said they were unaware that the hospital had not paid the benefits fund since November, accepted the contract. They are now legally prohibited from striking due to the contract agreement.

Our pressure is working! Thousands of New Yorkers are demanding more funding for public renewables, and the state legislature is listening. Now we need to bring the pressure to @governor.ny.gov who so far is insisting on raising our utility rates with even more natural gas!
New York Daily News Headline that reads: "NY state lawmakers propose boosting taxes on the rich, challenging Hochul and aligning with Mamdani."
The Assembly budget takes NYC's fiscal crisis seriously, raising new revenue from the wealthy to close the gap.
A good start. Now we hold firm with @governor.ny.gov: New Yorkers won't accept austerity while the rich pocket a $12 billion tax cut.
If the Comptroller's report is accurate, then NYC is staring down billions in budget gaps and the solution is right in front of us. Raise $3B from millionaires. Protect working families. The legislature needs to pass the Fair Share Act. #TaxTheRich

CM Caban and I: NYC shouldn’t need Albany’s permission to tax the rich.
It's time to pass the Fair Share Act, together with statewide taxes on the rich & win an affordable city for all.

NYC faces a $5.4 billion budget gap – and Albany faces two choices: either the wealthy and massive corporations can pay their fair share, or working- class New Yorkers will see costs continue to climb. It’s time to #TaxTheRich
As I shared with @newyorker.com, “Hochul needs to understand that its her fight, too.” Its also our fight to make sure everyone pays their fair share and that New York has the resources it needs to fund the services our communities all rely on. Read more ⬇️:

Bye Kristi Noem, now abolish ICE.
The one and only @phara4assembly.bsky.social is looking for a new member of Congress to take on the oligarchy and the establishment, champion the labor movement, and fight the war machine.
I'm so proud to have her support.
It is unconscionable that CBP would abandon a nearly blind refugee in an unfamiliar area more than five miles from his home during a blizzard.
My heart goes out for Mr. Shah Alam's family and community.
