“Elon is always directionally correct,” said Peter Diamandis, a SpaceX investor and the founder of the XPrize Foundation, a nonprofit that supports technological development. “His time frames may be off, but he’ll eventually get there.”
no he isn't, that's not true

I get the funny feeling the Supreme Court is not eager to take up President Trump's appeal in the E. Jean Carroll case. www.supremecourt.gov/search.aspx...
SPLC Union Logo: Yesterday, the Department of Justice leveled outrageous allegations at the Southern Poverty Law Center. In so doing, they maligned the integrity of the SPLC workers who have labored tirelessly for decades to expose the dangerous cruelty of extremists and hate groups in the United States.
SPLC Union Logo: This work is punishing. It takes a toll on our health and on our safety. But we persist because we believe in our mission to advance justice for all, and we believe that investigating, naming, and alerting the American people to the activities of those who seek to harm our neighbors is a moral imperative and an essential public service.
Today our colleagues are facing abuse and harassment from the far-right figures emboldened by this attack. But we will not be deterred, we will not be intimidated, and we will continue to name racism, sexism, antisemitism, Islamophobia, homophobia, and all hate for the blight that it is.
Below is a statement from the unionized workers of the Southern Poverty Law Center.
Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee have sent a letter to Kash Patel demanding answers regarding recent allegations of excessive partying and drinking at the expense of taxpayers.
“In short, if Democrats had their way, neither party would be able to engage in extreme gerrymanders. But if Republicans are going to do it, Democrats are right not to let that go unanswered.”
my now five year old asked for a birthday pasta dinner, so here we have a baked ziti, fresh from the oven
This kind of antifeminism is a socialism of fools, wherein working class resentment at exploitative elites is diverted into anger at feminized phantasms, like “HR.”
Interesting point from @brianbeutler.bsky.social: Yes, Democrats tend to perceive the economy as worse under Republican presidents, too, but they actually have good reason to see things that way!

Four blurry black fluffy kittens gleefully examining the dustpan and broom I am using to sweep litter off their foam floor. Wattle is a blurry leaping mess on the right, Bluegum is standing in the dustpan, and Myrtle and Greengage are off to the left because I removed my hands to take this photo.
This job required zero kittens AND YET.
Reminder that public health has a profoundly ableist, eugenicist streak running through it
I spent three hours driving today so I could be there for this hearing. A notorious habitual animal abuser in our state who calls herself a "rescuer" is finally facing some consequences.
Why can’t we rely on Canada, did our government do something that alienated them
Don’t start none; won’t be none
It’s Wednesday. There are 195 days until the midterm elections. DOJ goes KKK, Trump’s numbers hit the Dubya mark and V is for Victory (and Virginia).
Cat under blanket poking head out
Joe has a brother from another mother 😊
Lol I've got weeks of missed work and lingering fatigue that say otherwise
Reporter: What do you make of Republicans saying that Virginia—
AOC: Wah wah wah.
We have asked Republicans for 10 years to ban partisan gerrymandering. And for 10 years, Republicans have said no.
What they’re just mad at is that they have been accustomed to a Democratic Party that rolls over.
A closeup of an extremely handsome tabby cat, Joe, sitting in a big beige armchair. You can see a bit of thumb on his polydactyl forepaw and oodles of tummy floof and his eyes are looking sly. #CatsOfBlueSky
Just Joe being handsome
As the Heritage Foundation promotes “saving the family” and rails against out-of-wedlock births, casual sex, divorce, relatively easy access to birth control, and feminism, the group makes no mention of living wages, ICE, or the impact of social welfare cuts on low- and moderate-income families.
The non-war chain of command does run from POTUS to SECDEF to SECNAV
(I'm using 'war' here as shorthand)
SECNAV isn't really in the war chain of command (which runs from POTUS to SECDEF to CCMDs (unified combatant commanders (e.g. the four star in charge of CENTOM).
Which honestly makes the news even funnier.
This is a very good resource. I don't know how @taniel.bsky.social does this but he makes highly technical stuff like this very easy to follow and use:
I would watch a reverse heist movie where people stole from a rich guy's hypersecuritized mansion and gave the artwork to a public university's special collections
Anyway, I am a museum enthusiast and stealing from public institutions then selling those historic works of art to evil, rich people who will stash them away where no one can see them makes me very angry
yes, heists are very cool and sexy in movies. as in works of fiction
Talking about how heists are inherently cool and sexy is really not helping you beat the “a core problem of our age is that too many people think movies are real” charges, tbh
Calico cat back on her packing paper perch to oversee the final day before movers arrive! Thoroughly disgusted!
This pritty mush sums up my thots on moving!

“There’s no cut in Medicaid,” DHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. yelled numerous times over the past couple days as he testified in front of a handful of different congressional committees.
Hegseth's repeal of universal flu vaccines is nonsense on so many levels, but his claim vaccine mandates were an "era of betrayal" irked me as a historian. Here's my response, in @thebulwark.com this morning;
www.thebulwark.com/p/george-was...
That line, and his refusal to acknowledge the historic Medicaid cuts Republicans enacted in last year’s reconciliation bill was one of the few things that stayed consistent over the hours and hours of testimony he gave on Capitol Hill this week.
