Prince on stage at Manchester Arena on Sat 17th May 2014

Remembering Prince Rogers Nelson today, the 10th anniversary of his passing.

I finally caught him live at MCR Arena on Sat May 17th 2014. Over the course of three hours he cemented my view of him being one of the greatest artist to ever set foot on stage.

A true, and much missed icon 💜x

My 11:01 Sunday morning vinyl is "The Best By Jerry Butler" because I haven't listened to any albums lately by "The Iceman" and I just love his vocal tones. Plus, he's from the neighborhood where I grew up.

I also love that it only takes place in a jury room and restroom and you don't know any of their names until the end of the film. You're so wrapped up in the drama that you don't even notice. Sidney Lumet has never made a bad film in his career.

My 12:03 Saturday vinyl is "The Whole Story" by Kate Bush which is a really good sampler of her music. I never get sick of listening to it especially "Experiment IV" and "Babooshka".

Yes...its Record Store Day but I'm not getting myself involved because of all the money we spent at Exxxotica Chicago last week.

My 4:21 pm vinyl as I balance my checkbook is "Trans" by Neil Young. It was his controversial 1983 album in which he experimented with electronic music as a way to connect to his his non-verbal son who had cerebral palsy. The album has since developed a loyal cult following.

My 7:52 Saturday morning vinyl is the 1986 recording "Shockadelica" by Jesse Johnson from The Time who is a really underrated guitarist. The album contains the track "Crazy" which was the last chart hit that the late Sly Stone recorded.

One of the best films ever made that takes place in just a jury room and a restroom and you never know the name of any of the jurors until the end of the film. You're so riveted by the performances that you never notice. Then again, Lumet never made a bad film in his entire career.

My 6:30 am Saturday vinyl is "Off The Wall" by Michael Jackson back when was Black and still had a nose. I actually think this album is better than "Thriller". The late Quincy Jones does an incredible job on production.

My 4:18 pm vinyl is the underrated and criminally uoverlooked "Delirium" by Santessa Rey aka Santessa which was produced by Sade/Sweetback collaborator Stuart Matthewman. This is an excellent chill out album that I never get sick of listening to. I highly recommend tracking this down.

My 5:45 pm vinyl is "Welcome 2 America" by Prince which is a pretty good album. Only Prince knows why he completely shelved it in his expansive vault after he recorded it.

My 4:48 pm vinyl is the "Game Of Death" soundtrack by John Barry. Notice the jumpsuit? Uma Thurman wore the same type of outfit in "Kill Bill" when she fought the Crazy 88's.

My 3:45 pm vinyl is "There's A Riot Goin' On" by Sly & The Family Stone. I can't remember why I disliked the album the first time I heard it. Its still solid and extremely relevant after all these decades and is a must own for any vinyl collection.
