Definitely something to ponder! Some have argued for 'vesiduction' as a fourth term. I've been hesitant to adopt that until we better understand delivery mechanisms, and typically refer to "extracellular vesicle-mediated gene transfer" - but it's clear that those 3 don't cover everything happening

Our latest on the genetic content carried within different populations of DNA-containing particles in the oceans! Vesicles and viruses likely play distinct roles in microbial horizontal gene transfer networks. Grateful to all collaborators

Wellesley College has a new tenure track assistant professor opening for a terrestrial ecologist. Please help spread the word!

Latest from my lab: we show that extracellular vesicles and viral-like particles are distinct vehicles for horizontal gene transfer, differing in DNA capacity and functional content. EVs harbor an incredible diversity of mobile elements! #MicroSky #ViroSky

I expect to have a tech position open in my lab (just outside Boston) working on projects with marine microbes. Not formally posted yet as things are working through HR, but would be happy to chat about it with your student
