Jay Bhattacharya has ordered that a paper showing the effectiveness of COVID19 vaccines in preventing severe disease and hospitalization be suppressed and hidden.

This man has been crying nonstop about political censorship for 6 years.

But he’s the one who is actually doing it.

I feel like I’ve fallen out of love with cybersecurity.

It used to be, to me, about protecting people. Now it’s just become an endless grind of people trying to protect budgets through GenAI fear. So much of cybersecurity now is just total nonsense.

Xavier Becerra constantly fought to kill efforts to increase police accountability and his campaigns were funded by police unions. He threatened me with criminal charges after I obtained a list of CA’s dirtiest cops. Horrible choice for gov.

Monterey Park becomes the first city in California to ban "all data centers within city limits" Residents of the small enclave east of LA not only killed their city's proposed 250,000 square foot data center, they pushed city council to ban them altogether

Last night, after an hours-long public hearing, Monterey Park became the first city in California to pass an ordinance permanently banning data centers.

The city council voted unanimously to declare data centers a public nuisance, and to "prohibit all data centers within city limits."

Great to see momentum building to treat the network of license plate readers as the fourth amendment violation of our rights that they are.

Power without accountability: The Palantir manifesto The problems with our tech philosopher kings

New, from me: Take the Palantir manifesto seriously, if not literally.
It reveals that our tech philosopher kings want public money, but without public accountability. This creates a dilemma for governments unaligned with its techno-fascist vision. 🧵

Palantir Goes Mask-Off For Fascism. It Won’t End Well. Earlier this month, Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that "Palantir Technologies (PLTR) has proven to have great war fighting capabilities and equipment. Just ask our enemies!!!" — notably including the stock ticker, because why not just make the market manipulation explicit. The stock popped after that and has continued to rise in the past couple weeks, though it's still down on the year.

The Shocking Secrets of Madison Square Garden’s Surveillance Machine Famously vengeful Knicks owner Jim Dolan has long spied on people at his iconic arenas. WIRED goes deep inside the operation that allegedly tracked a trans woman, lawyers, protesters, and more.

Explosive & really outrageous revelations in here about a billionaire's private surveillance network completely run amok.

If we can't stop Dolan from spying on us at MSG, let's at least cancel his sweetheart tax break. (1/2)

A couple points on this manifesto, apart from the racial superiority subtext others noted.

Palantir is a company built on public contracts, they bill the state billions to surveil and target the state's population. The manifesto exists to justify their demand for even more.

Palantir put out the most cartoonishly evil statement possible. They’re so arrogant and self-confident they don’t seem to believe their fascistic plans can be opposed.

We must get rid of Palantir altogether.

Antioch launches transparency portal for controversial Flock cameras The Antioch Police Department launched a transparency portal in partnership with Flock Safety to provide residents insights on how the surveillance technology is utilized by the department.

No, publishing some limited data about license plate readers does NOT provide "clear insight" or "details on how the surveillance technology is used." It is "transparency" in name only and not in reality.

How ACLU Cases Are Limiting Overbroad Digital Search Warrants New legal standards are restricting law enforcement’s access to cell phone and social media data

Our phones, computers, and social media accounts reveal deeply personal information about us. That's why it's so vital that police warrants for these devices be targeted, specific, and time-bound.

As technology advances, we must make sure our Fourth Amendment protections do too.
