'Would you rather live in our house, or a ghost house (from Mario), or an ice house on a river that melts when it gets warm, or a desert house?' (we all said our house except the Taco Bell nacho fries on the table, which apparently preferred the ghost house)

CCS --> NACS --> NACS --> CCS 😅
🧐 this is fine...
Oh I know. I am just tired of the creep. We've started doing extended datasets for everything. Good practice but the curation takes forever. I want to do the science, not press buttons on websites!
For everyone who submits manuscripts to arxiv (or chemrxiv), curious why you decide to do it? I like the idea in principle but just submitting a paper usually takes me over an hour. Arxiv seems like yet another 'thing'. Is it really worth the additional time input?
Dodged a thunderstorm at Mt Holyoke and ready for the GRC on the Science of Adhesion!
Pattern of CO2 over the past 66 Million years. The curve begins around 720ppm, peaks at 1600ppm 51 Million years ago and then declines toward today when a marked increase in CO2 is observed that is caused by human CO2 emissions.
For the first time ever, recorded atmospheric CO₂ has exceeded 430ppm! The last time CO₂ consistently reached today’s human-driven levels was ∼14 Million years ago, with shorter periods of similar levels around 3-5 Million years ago.

Applications are now open for the NSF-supported Future Faculty Workshop in Soft Matter, to be hosted at UC Irvine @ucirvine.bsky.social on July 15-17! Please help us spread the word—mentee applications are accepted until March 31st: shorturl.at/grUek
I’m very excited to finally share the results of a passion project that has been on my mind for nearly a decade. You can find the pre-print below, but what follows is the saga of how this project came to be:
Hope manufacturers are listening for the next generation of instruments... 😅
Is the FIB-to-TEM workflow integrated/automated? (I should have looked closer. Still a wild level of data... I met @jessheebner.bsky.social out of the blue about a year ago and have been getting more excited about trying some of these approaches with soft matter since then... !)
🤩 I feel like I blinked and suddenly cryo slice and view SEM tomography could do.... this...! The last time I checked, FIB just burned all of our soft matter samples beyond recognition!!!
Love our EVs! But will share what is obvious in retrospect: don't use one pedal driving in snow/ice/rainy conditions where the roads are slick. Regen braking doesn't trigger antilock breaks and the heavy EVs will sliiiide even at low speed. Speaking from experience unfortunately 😭.
4 yo asked Santa for glitter pens and then asked him why the North Pole is melting. Might have taught kiddo a bit too much about climate change...
Internal to our lab we have a massive set of colored stickers. Chart on the wall says what each color corresponds to (a different location in the lab). Makes it much much harder to accidentally store a chemical in the wrong place.
Thanksgiving crafts with the kids and I decided to make something to bring to work... Hoping these make it easier to explain different kinds of copolymers to students and visitors without a polymer background! Thanks @stache-lab.bsky.social for the idea!
Yup!!!! My first thought when they first made this app!

Calling all polymer scientists! Let’s re-find each other as people continue to migrate over!
Please tag people in the comments and share! I’ll continue updating as we find more people. #polymers

Took my class on a field trip to North America's largest metals/glass/plastic materials recovery facility. Check out half a days worth of NYC recycling in this pile! Material can come in by truck or by barge. Amazing visit. Thanks to Princeton's ProCES program for the support!
Looks like a great opportunity (for 2025, the year is a typo per @rpslab.bsky.social !)
