I'm sure this-morning-Emily thought it was a great idea to not being any chocolate to work, despite buying some yesterday...

... Post-lunch Emily is very sad about it. 😭

Ooof, that last line.

"Given [workplace]'s strategic goals, how do you think [staff member] is a good fit for our team?"

... If that's the sort of question you're going to ask, please let me do a written referee report rather than asking for a "chat". I felt like I was being interviewed too!

Thanks for the reminder! I'm six months out from having COVID, which I believe means I'm now eligible for the booster again. Will look into it!

... I just wrote a second scene from the secret third WIP I'm not even supposed to be working on yet.

I did them both and they were fine. One of them was literally catching up with a friend but that tells you how I feel about phone calls prior to them happening.

I have to make two phonecalls tonight and I am not okay.

That's what I'm hoping - that small details that come out in the writing will help form the ending once I get to it.

Changed up my writing routine for 2025. Seems to be working so far. I still haven't quite figured out the end of my WIP, but I'm close enough I'm going to start the new draft rather than continuing to just stare at the new outline. #Writer

Every time there's a post about how writers shouldn't use AI art, some chucklefuck in the comments says it's not fair because "some people just don't have art skills."

So, from a former "person without art skills," here's a 🧵 about the cool shit that's happened since I decided to make art anyway.

Given the issues with the app, outlets selling out of MyWay+ cards, barely any messaging about fares starting back today except on Facebook...

I am not surprised half the new MyWay machines aren't working, either. #Canberra

It would be super nice to just be able to finish a writing project sometime soon, instead of just oscillating between two forever.

The "bluesky is an echo chamber" think pieces that keep popping up really tickle me because they show how certain people genuinely believe social media should be for debating and arguing and not talking about the things that make you happy and sharing art with the world.

I have said for years that while it's very quotable, it's not that great. Gets people very riled up, though.

One innocuous comment from a colleague and I was off on a rant about privilege in publishing and especially celebrity children's authors.

I just heard that Timothy West died and all I can think about is how devastates Prunella Scales will be to lose her soulmate . 😢

Hello from OpenVibe. I am writing this post once and it will allegedly post to both my Threads and BlueSky accounts. This is a test to see if it works.

If you always mean to add ALT text but you forget until it's too late, there's a toggle to prevent that in the accessibility section of your settings!

ALT text copied and pasted from the linked website: An infographic titled “How To Write Alt Text” featuring a photo of a capybara. Parts of alt text are divided by color, including identify who, expression, description, colour, and interesting features. The finished description reads “A capybara looking relaxed in a hot spa. Yellow yuzu fruits are floating in the water, and one is balanced on the top of the capybara’s head.”

Dear cinema, if the Wicked advanced screenings don't start until Wednesday, why is it in your "now showing" menu? Way to get my hopes up for a good Sunday night outing.

This is a very common scam these days—scammer poses as real author, makes friendly approach, then refers to their “agent” or marketer. I wrote about it a few weeks ago writerbeware.blog/2024/09/20/w...
