I will bet it never crossed any of these people's minds that this indicates a perception of bias *away* from dignity and respect for trans and disabled people. It only goes one way.

i was at a dinner event on the night of the 2022 election and was sat next to a well-off, early-40s inner-suburban, perennial liberal-voting couple who said they changed their vote because they were embarrassed of being associated with racism and homophobia. it's wild they can't understand this
