I’ve basically lost all interest in writing any song lyrics that involve fiction or fantasy. Can still enjoy them, but can’t write them.

I continue to, maybe naively, believe in the newness of what I’m doing, but it probably has to do with how I compare it with my own previous songs rather than to anything external

It is pretty sobering when you see hard evidence of how much more excited people can get about cover bands than ones writing new songs.
