Farage in town on flying visit to Shetland REFORM leader Nigel Farage has arrived in Shetland as part of a tour around the country as the Scottish elections loom. He arrived at Sumburgh Airport earlier...

This morning, Police Scotland released a public service announcement, warning for rural communities to be vigilant for “suspicious people” of ill-intent.

In unrelated news, on Tuesday morning Nigel Farage flew to the Northern Isles in his private plane.

3. The fact that the tech sector is only just discovering the importance of this reflects more on the poor management in that particular sector than any great lesson for business as a whole. 4/4

2. #HR people have known about the importance of social relationships in work for donkeys years (For those old enough to remember #Belbin Team Roles, "Glue Work" = Resource Investigator) But as HR is everybody's favourite punchbag, it's only when discovered by a "tech bro" it becomes a hot topic 3/4

1. "Glue Work" - why must we constantly give stupid new names to phenomena that have been around in the work place for generations? (see also "quiet quitting"). 2/4

Why ‘glue work’ can finally shine in the age of AI Automating technical skills will transform the value of those who can build relationships and hold projects together

Found @sarahoconnorft.ft.com's piece today really annoying (not because of the writing or topic I should stress) - a short 🧵) 1/4

UK submarine captain steps down after link to Chinese spy case Navy previously conducted investigation into senior officer to examine potential blackmail risk

Wondering who would be cast in the inevitable TV movie of this story. Would go for Karen Gillan as the MP, Andrew Agnew (PC Plum from Balamory) as her husband and, as we don't know what the Navy guy looks like, James McEvoy or Gerard Butler as the submarine captain

This may be just an etiquette war to some* but from an #HR perspective it's awful and one of the downsides of remote working ( @gemdale.bsky.social). Maybe I'm old-fashioned (or just old) but privacy and confidentiality are business basics.

(*not a dig at the OP, btw)

For anyone who didn’t see the BBC statement: "while we do not comment on matters relating to individuals, we can confirm Scott Mills is no longer contracted to work with the BBC."

3 weeks ago 0 0 0 0

Just heard a journo saying “we have a right to know why #ScottMills was sacked” No we don’t- any employee, no matter if they are in the public eye, has a right to confidentiality. The #BBC statement is all that needs to be said. #HR

'I was naive', says minister who quit over Labour Together claims Josh Simons resigned after facing claims a think tank he used to run commissioned a report into journalists' backgrounds.

This man is 32 (so not a kid) and a former government minister. “Naive” is politico speak for “stupid” or “so arrogant I didn’t think I’d be caught” www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Co-op boss quits after 'toxic culture' claims reported by BBC Shirine Khoury-Haq's departure comes after a troubled year, in which the retailer suffered a cyber-attack and faced allegations about its workplace culture.

A good example of an irregular #HR verb

An employee is sacked
A senior manager leaves by mutual agreement
A CEO steps aside

The Margaret Rutherford Miss Marple movies from the early 60s are light and funny; nothing like any other Agatha Christie adaptations and all the better for it.

You’re right - you can’t TUPE people into inferior ts &cs - the whole point of the legislation is to protect existing conditions (or to provide a suitable alternative if for some reason they can’t be replicated)
