There is still a Batmania Street in Melbourne and I saw it with my own eyes.

Yes, incredibly!
I learned that the city of Melbourne was founded by a man named Batman and it was originally called Batmania.
Has anyone seen the play “Giant” on Broadway, with John Lithgow playing Roald Dahl? Dahl was a horrible person (I don’t know first-hand but I do know second-hand). I’m curious what scandal the play treats.

Photographer Kirill Simakov took a photo of unphotogenic me for his portrait exhibit! I hang between Nicholas Lowry of Antiques Road Show (talking here to Kirill with Elie Wiesel behind him) & photographer Bruce Weber. Visit me there! Leonovich Gallery, W 24th St. in NYC, only until March 27
So great!
Harry’s birthday was Monday.
I’m one of the pieces on the wall in a gallery in Chelsea! (New York’s fashionable neighborhood for art galleries). The show is pretty cool, Russian photographer Kirill Simakov in his first solo NY show. Come see it! (Leonovich Galkery , W24th Street)
I’m not seeing that I can write captions for individual photos: the weird window picture shows our kitchen window (as seen from a bedroom window), where a section of anti-pigeon spikes was partially blown off the windowsill in the storm. Our Super had glued it in place—not so very super.
Congratulations on the one word!Wouldn’t it be interesting to know exactly how many different words you have used in your published writing? It wouldn’t surprise me if some AI server already knows this.
Brooklyn snow report
To be clear- the store will provide a storytime anyway, with staff, just not with me. 🙁
So many people have shared my posts about a bookstore visit tomorrow in Takoma Park—thank you! But I have gotten sick and they are canceling! I hope nobody shows up anyway. Apologies.
Please, please, share this event announcement if you know anyone near Takoma Park, MD or even if you don't: bookstore storytime at the terrific new People's Books this Sunday 1/4/26! I'll draw and read and I need kids or even grownups there to make it fun! peoplesbooktakoma.com/event/zelins...
I've posted about the big diorama I made for my book "Still Life" with @alexlondon.bsky.social, which after its stint in the window of @booksofwonder.bsky.social found a permanent home in the store: I've been improving it and just put a page about that on my website, so FYI: shorturl.at/4C94u
We solved some of the world’s problems! Fun chatting with you, Debbie!
In honor of Halloween, I put on my website pictures of mystery/horror paperback book jackets that I made a long time ago. www.paulozelinsky.com/bellairs_jac...
Banana Menorah Countdown: 6 days to go! Today, my first picture book, RED AND GREEN AND BLUE AND WHITE, illustrated by @paulozelinsky.com published by @levinequerido.bsky.social The NYT called it “Beautiful… It’s a message the world can use, throughout the year.” #kidlit #socialjustice
Just now, on my walk home: there’s a joke in here…
A plush baby bison
A blue cowboy hat and some wood box with a sort of grating for a lid
Dried children’s tempera paint in the gutter, in front of a preschool
A nice loaf of crusty bread on a raised wall
Some things I came across walking near my house in the last few days
I have a always wanted to fold a map of Vermont in front of an audience.
Panorama of Superman’s opening scene
Went today to see Superman in IMax 3D. Very enjoyable.
Yep, that was pretty much it! They knew the “rampion” they were growing was aggressive and it was kept in pots, not in the ground.
… caused her to check out some things and it turned out they had been growing the rapunculoides species and wrongly calling it rampion as in the fairy tale. After that they reordered the less invasive plant!
One place I did research for my Rapunzel book was the Cloisters, a branch of New York’s Metropolitan Museum specializing in Medieval Art and culture. They had a garden and I got in touch with the gardener to come see the rampion planted in their garden. Our correspondence…
Bellflowers can be very aggressive; I don’t know if this one is a weed, and being a weed is sort of a subjective judgment (“a rose is a weed in a potato patch”). Rapunzel (= rampion) is a bellflower: campanula rapunculus.
Packing for San Francisco, where we’ll meet my daughter and her family. We’re bringing along a precious copy of “Dear Mr. Henshaw” for them to take back to Melbourne. Her son said Beverly had stopped signing books for people and this would be her last: she signed it for our as-yet-unborn grandson
We went to the ballet and came out to find that the US “leader” took it on himself to start a war between the US and Iran.
I think this is the first Bluesky post to do what happens all the time on other platforms, assuming I am the president of Ukraine!
