it's the curse of being an artist, you want to defend your work against unfair or bad faith critique but it hardly ever goes well. i feel this, too, especially when writing fanfic where the author/audience membrane doesn't even exist

trying to be charitable as possible but it grinds my gears a lil seeing a popular tumblr poster turned debut author sort of obliquely responding to criticisms of their work--i get the impulse & agree w/ the broader points they're making. but bestie, [takes hand] let it go
