I don’t care for this aspect of it Darbs, not at all

My favourite takes are the ones that fill you with indie-movie like melancholy for the life the poster must have lived to arrive, eventually and inevitably at that take. A take that feels like it should be read with a cigarette, black coffee and a French accent.
The things I’ve seen you guys, it’s pretty cool you guys.
I am looking for environmental artists, particularly people with a strong background in concept work for interior locations

Humans only. no ai.
Like tears in the rain
Yup. It’s been fun sieving the mates out of that circuit :)
Feeling a little uncoupled from the game industry at large. Not sure if that’s a bad thing or a good thing.

They’ve run all the normal plays like vaporware demos, credulous earned media stories, celebrity endorsers but since we’ve all lived through successive rounds of snake oil, that old playbook no longer works and people are giving them the finger. So they’re having a tantrum and moving on to threats.
Academic q: why is this so much more of an issue with unreal? Just a side effect of age? Bad documentation? Contradictory features?
(Kudos to those who are ahead of me on this and looking at these numbers smartly)
For reference, look to film box office commentary, where the smarter end of the pundit pool looks at context, week on week trends and time adjusted precedents. ‘Game X has less players in week one than Game Y has in week 52’ is a not very interesting
Gonna say this in the rare moment where I’m far enough from a release:
Dear game journalists and pundits: Almost every important / cool / successful game you’ve ever raved about launched without genre defying concurrent numbers. I get that metrics are cool, but learn tracking
*white* space armour, Jeff. And the ui is blue. Come on. Same game.
The new Folding Ideas video is haunting because a) I have been on too many of these weird wine and dine trips and b) I too have found myself, multiple times, silently sat in a mini bus with someone I have publicly criticised.
wee bit into Pragmata and holy moly this game whips ass dude. they made a 2007-era action game in 2026 it's soooo fun.
Been waiting for this one
I.. do not miss it
It’s an ongoing battle on a hundred fronts. Nihilism is boring.
Either celebrate games as art, or drop the pretence. There’s not really a middle ground.
I mean, he (apparently) was. Dude pestered the bosses to do it for years, then left the door open behind him long enough for it to become standard procedure
I will never get over or stop talking about the fact that Frakes turned trek into a tv director school through sheer tenacity, and for the decade that followed a bunch of cast members from each show got their start and transition behind the camera there.
Chuckie from Good Will Hunting, played by Ben Affleck, asking "You know what the best part of my day is?"
Chuckie from Good Will Hunting, played by Ben Affleck, saying "It's for about ten seconds: from when I open BlueSky and it's broken and I'm waiting for it to load."
Chuckie from Good Will Hunting, played by Ben Affleck: "'Cause I think maybe it'll never load and they'll never fix it and you won't be there."

The thing I’m most excited for, post announcement, is going back to public dev, sharing stuff as I go along. Haven’t been free to do that since, like, Volume. Prepare for long, boring threads about the minutiae of design and production. There may even be graphs.
To be clear Dave, you’re absolutely right and I was having a bit of fun :)
(I like the boys, it’s popcorn, satire in the same way Las Vegas is satire)
