i find the thing with imperialism is that, if it exists in your setting, it often becomes the main theme of the setting.
worldbuilding a fantasy setting is so much harder when you actually have an understanding of how the world works because you have to think about shit like. economics and how much you really have to get into the weeds of whether or not your fantasy country did imperialism at some point
