That’s not cricket: How ‘creeping Hindutva’ stumped sportsmanship ahead of the T20 World Cup The reality of the sport is that the flap of a butterfly’s wings in local Indian politics can cause a typhoon in another country’s cricketing fortunes.

There's only one line on more contemporary work that queries the Eurocentric world view - work which unpacks and eviscerates colonialism, gender, white supremacy, etc - is dismissed as culture wars. Which I feel is how white intellectuals frequently dismiss critiques of their canon.

Silent Catastrophes by WG Sebald review – academic writing at its most sterile A collection of professional leftovers that can only diminish the posthumous reputation of a master of high literature

On the face of it, this review of a collection of academic writing represents a very learned, intellectual elite perspective. Yet the mounful undertone regarding the end of European intellectual celebration feels very much like posh highbrow MAGA.

Although this post above also reminds me that this is why I quit social media. These small moments of outrage pile up every day, and you're frequently feeling irritated, angry or anxious without truly knowing why. And there's never any shortage of things to outrage about.

Read the story to confirm, but this is 'offensive' only because it shows an obviously Muslim man endorsing the burning of notes. Replace him with a crypto-bro and no one would have batted an eyelid.

"Almeida and his partner also make a special effort to include their sons during preps. The motivation behind the effort is at once simple and profound.

“We are engaging them not in any hope, but just to say this is something that we belong to,” he says

“This is our heritage.”"

A Goan Christmas in Karachi | karachikhatmal An essay on the foods with which Karachi's Goans celebrate Christmas.

A couple of years ago I worked on a story which I really loved.

Unfortunately, the magazine it was written for went defunct and I was never able to share it. Have finally gotten around to doing so now.

My article on a Goan Christmas in Karachi.
