Excited to see if they’ll take my one other definitive alien poem that I’m extremely proud of and is also 3k words long lol

Corned beef on rye with mustard, the two variants on “turkey and mashed potatoes, but on a sandwich” (like the Wawa thanksgiving sandwich, ciabatta + sweet potato + apple slaw + feta + aioli, tuna melts, Arby’s beef and cheddar, Jimmy John’s #9, screw it let’s go wild peanut butter and pickles
I don’t eat it often, and I rock with a lot of sandwiches, but the club sandwich is perfect. Just thinking about it makes me feel joy at the power of beauty
People are assumed to be gently centrist left-liberal, and when big changes happen, radical organizations are seen as minority factions that just happen to be there
Some of the difficulties understanding how history informs the present stem from the suppression of a bulk of people’s innately socialist or anarchist tendencies.
The most secondhand embarrassment I’ve ever felt was the Star Trek TNG episode when the ship is celebrating Captain Picard Day, & Picard gets a surprise call from higher up surrounded by children’s art of himself, which he cannot explain despite him not wanting Captain Picard Day in the first place
I want to speak to poetry’s manager!
Devastating: the first draft, which isn’t supposed to be perfect anyway, is not perfect
Congrats to @thedeadlands.com for the Hugo nomination! Honored to get to show my work in your beautiful skeleton pages!!!

It was the beginning of 2016 being a collective “worst year ever” soon supplanted by 2020 and 2023-2026
This is what I’m always looking for more of
I’m very disappointed in the poetry gods for giving me a poem I’m so excited to write, at the very end of semester when things are busiest
Many of us have times when we’d rather be writing, but just thinking about this poem has me wanting to sing and dance
❤️
Minneapolis (snow Portland) and it’s all real
This poem has me so fired up I can barely breathe
Other than fun family stuff I’m getting nothing done today
Shocking twist: I returned to the pointlessly complicated form. I had it shelved for months but the spirit moved me and now it’s coming to life! Far future improvised house party poetry, where people scramble each other’s syllables into new riffy lines. I am having FUN with this one!

This joke is evergreen for me because I’m always fretting about a poetry submission somewhere, and who among the working class wouldn’t mind ten thousand dollars?
Here’s the thing. If you’re a publisher desperate to publish my poetry, or a kind stranger who wishes to give me ten thousand dollars, but you’re worried about bothering me on a Saturday, let me assure you that I don’t mind. Go ahead and do it!
I appreciate the love for the Twin Cities but I feel like it must be graded on a curve; compared to any major non U.S. metro the twin cities must still feel like Columbus or Dallas
Good post
Text of the screenshot follows, but it’s basically an incomprehensible formula for alternating syllables of a stock phrase in an elaborate stanza pattern. I have not figured out how to write this form yet. Text of screenshot: Free stanza (variable number) abcd abcd abcd abcd bdac bdac bdac bdac dcba dcba dcba dcba cadb cadb cadb cadb [procedure for pre-twist stanzas: weave in un-patterned phrase in second and third line] B abcd abcd bdac bdac X dcba dcba X cadb cadb Mirror stanza abcd X X dcba bdac bdac cadb cadb dcba dcba abcd abcd cadb X X bdac B’ abcd abcd X bdac bdac X dcba dcba cadb cadb [procedure for post-twist stanzas: weave in un-patterned phrase in second and third line, at a different (reverse??) point] Free stanza (variable number) abcd abcd abcd abcd bdac bdac bdac bdac dcba dcba dcba dcba cadb cadb cadb cadb
Me: Can I invent a new poetry form to use in my cool sci fi universe
Also me: We’ve got a perfectly good verse form you haven’t used yet at home
The verse form:
Omg lol I forgot about that one
It’s a fine show! Lots of cute and meaningful stuff. But something is off!
My hot parenting take is that while Paw Patrol is rightly criticized for being copaganda, I think there’s something off about Bluey. Its depiction of fatherhood, its 80s nostalgia, and its devoted adult following makes me think that a sizable number of “bluey parents” will go reactionary in 15 years
Full disclosure: I haven’t watched the Pitt lol
In the mid thousands network TV was completely moribund, and it was streaming shows that really shook up what TV could be. It’s funny how the tide has reversed, & a solid show being made like solid network shows is seen as a restoration of cinematic values. Not saying it isn’t, just a funny dynamic!
It’s interesting to see what I understand to be a solid medical drama framed as a revival of cinematic realism. The show it’s riffing on, ER, I remember as much soapier. But new art always constructively rewrites the past
