Every time I post about endometriosis and dare to make it, gender inclusive, I always get a lot of comments from people angry that I didn’t just say “women”

And every time, I think about how Rowling has enough money to cure endometriosis forever. But she doesn’t actually give a fuck about women.

Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah among Britain's biggest taxpayers on Sunday Times list Erling Haaland was Britain's highest taxed footballer last year, paying nearly £17 million to the Treasury.

Two immigrants top relevant Sunday Times list for most UK tax paid, as "patriot" multi-billionaire Ratcliffe lives as an immigrant in Monaco, to protect wealth so vast it is unspendable, while whining about immigrant UK care workers and NHS cleaners not pulling their weight.

I left university in 2019 with £49,600 of debt. A few months later, I became an MP and have since received a salary that puts me in the top 5% in the country. 6 years on, the repayments from my salary have brought this total to down to £48,600 - just £1,000 less.

Harvey Price time then.

In 2016, I had an ill fated stint as the Social Media Producer on Loose Women on ITV. It was a disaster, I should never have applied for the job, I certainly shouldn’t have been given it. I could do the actual job standing on my head, but the politics of the place…woof.

Manchester’s chief flag-raiser has put his people smuggling days behind him Flags protesting unchecked immigration have gone up across the city, led by a man caught smuggling migrants into the country in the back of a van

Amazing story: one of the organisers of the group putting Union Flags up around Manchester previously did time for being part of a people smuggling gang.

I really dislike how science has started calling almost any fancy computational technique AI. 🧪

The framing of this entire article makes it sound like a benevolent AI independently made these drugs.

That is *pure fantasy*.

Instead: a team of scientists made a machine learning model for a study.

In the City

Trading with Israel

PALESTINIANS are dying of starvation in Gaza; meanwhile the UK has been importing increased volumes of Israeli vegetables and fruit. In the first three months of this year (so mostly before Israel ended the ceasefire in Gaza and imposed a total aid blockade), those imports were worth £51.3m, up from £29.1m in the last three months of 2024.

Vegetables and fruit comprise the largest contribution to Israeli exports to the UK, worth £139m last year and likely to earn much more this year for the Israeli economy as the Gaza famine death toll rises.

Israel also exported to the UK larger amounts of other products that are restricted or blocked from entering Gaza. Exports of medical and pharmaceutical products more than doubled from £840,000 to £2m. It exported toilet and cleansing products worth £13.8m, compared with £13.15m in the last quarter of 2024.

These latest trade figures from the Office for National Statistics show the UK has continued to do significant trade with Israel despite political posturing amid growing outrage over the killing of civilians in Gaza and by Israeli settlers on the West Bank.

The UK is an important export market for Israel. Israel is not that important to the UK, either as an export market or for irreplaceable imports. The UK ranks behind only the European Union, United States, China and India for Israeli exports. Israel ranks behind almost 40 countries for UK exports.

The Labour government has so far failed to use that financial leverage to pressure the far-right Israeli government into stopping the war in Gaza or preventing ethnic cleansing

The Labour government has so far failed to use that financial leverage to pressure the far-right Israeli government into stopping the war in Gaza or preventing ethnic cleansing

Total UK imports of goods from Israel in the January–March quarter rose from £298m in the previous quarter to £343m. Imports of services – primarily consultancy, telecoms, financial services and IT – dropped from £320m to £278m. Exports of goods fell from £412m to £384m, while exports of services slipped from £465m to £432m. These figures are not seasonally adjusted.

Year-on-year imports of all goods from Israel fell sharply in the 12 months to March 2025 by 28 percent or almost £500m compared with the position at March 2024. Exports rose slightly, but this still created a £848m trade surplus with Israel for the UK in goods and services. Maybe public revulsion over Gaza is starting to have an influence?

Israeli exports benefit from preferential treatment under the UK–Israel trade and partnership agreement, which includes a human rights clause stipulating that “respect for democratic principles and human rights constitute an essential element of the Agreement. The Agreement also adopts, as a main objective, the encouragement of regional cooperation with a view to the consolidation of peaceful coexistence and economic and political stability.”

It seems unlikely this provision allows for the killing of children at a feeding clinic or the shooting of hundreds of hungry Gazans waiting for food. Nor would it allow for Israeli settlers killing and evicting Palestinians on the West Bank with impunity.

The post-Brexit UK agreement replicated the EU trade agreement with Israel

Astonishing that this isn't being talked about more: the UK is still trading huge volumes of goods with Israel. Where are the sanctions? Non-existent.

At this rate, Gaza will be completely destroyed before the UK Govt suspends trade.

‘Trickle-down’ tax cuts don’t work, study says As governments decide how to plug holes in their finances, a new report adds weight to calls for higher taxes on the wealthy.

A 2021 LSE report analysed *50* years of growth, income and employment data for 18 countries that had tax cuts for the rich and found that it failed to strengthen economies and worsens inequality.
