Yeah I’m always surprised by how much people benefit from just having space to use a therapist as a psychic toilet!! I hope it goes well for you 🥰

Oh yeah, if anything you’ll probably start the first couple of months just getting used to no structure really being needed. I think I just “filled the space” for a little while at first. Definitely no “right or wrong” way to approach it as a client, which is kind of freeing when you get used it.

Yeah, I think if it’s a relational issue (which I tend to think most issues for people are😅) then you’ll hopefully find the therapy more helpful. It will take time though, and probably need to air out times the therapist will piss you off that might not be given space in brand therapies.

(2) idk if i can just say it’s been “helpful” because I guess I won’t know until I’ve finished. However, definitely find myself more self-aware and willing to be more self-compassionate. Very much would recommend trusting the process and if you’re annoyed about something, say it.

My experience is mostly as a client but as a trainee clinical psychologist it’s something I am trying to integrate into my practice.

Been in analysis for about a year now. Going twice a week and I’m continuously surprised by how difficult I’ve found it getting used to having space therapeutically.

Why You Don't Want A Diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder — Beam Consultancy Who the hell am I to say this? Well, I’ve worked in mental health services for over 25 years.  The last 10 have been in services specifically for people who hurt themselves and want to die. ...

Would very much recommend, I usually struggle to sit and finish a book but found this very readable!

To anyone who is staying with relatives over the holidays and the house is too warm, remember, “this too shall pass.”

In my opinion, absolutely. #Autistic folk often notice patterns, such as group dynamics, hypocrisy between words and actions, or inconsistencies in rules and behaviours. These observations are often gaslit by the neurotypical gaze, leading to confusion and alienation, despite being correct.

The ending of Girl, Interrupted sees the main character reject psychiatry—and specifically Borderline Personality Disorder—for its inherent sexism.

On #BPD, she writes: “To quote my post-Melvin psychiatrist: ‘It’s what they call people whose lifestyles bother them.’”

As much skin as possible and furry leg warmers. Can’t imagine they do understated in the pink pony club.

I reckon you’d be safe in something pink

These are the important questions that need to be asked! If I’m going to be singing it hourly I should at least know the context.

I’ve just about finished this book I received as a gift from a previous supervisor as I left the service to start the ClinPsyD. It was a book that she leaned on during her studies and I can see why. Really enjoyed reading this and would recommend to many!

I totally understand that receiving a diagnosis can feel validating - it just doesn’t need to be one that comes with so much prejudice and stigma thrown in #bpd #eupd #traumanotpd

No it’s my bad, I hate acronyms but the character count is a pain! It’s regarding Personally Disorder Diagnoses. I’m hoping once I’ve completed my thesis in a couple of years time I’ll have published a couple more times☺️

Just shared this elsewhere so to make my Bluesky “sharing nonsense” debut, here it is! (And for the first time in a while maybe people will see it!) #bpd #eupd

I’ve always had trans mates since the early 90s, when I was in the first lived experience pilot. It was seen as a threat, and we were utterly loathed, with the whole hospital waiting for us to break down (which, of course, happened). A trans nurse became our one ally. Difference supports difference.

Zotero is great and I think that anyone who needs to organise and cite more than a handful of references should be using it. Here's an intro to Zotero that I made for my undergrad students (but the info is relevant for anyone new to Zotero).
