When I lived in Oregon, I was amazed at the awareness of being prepared for an emergency by my friends, the newspaper I worked at, and the radio station I volunteered for. I saw improvements over the years and wish you the best in the hope that it will continue to get better.
What a blow hard is Trumpy! When there are mail-in ballots, more people vote, and that favors the blue team. Oregon has only mail-in voting and is very secure.
Our political system is not perfect, but can be made better. We just need leaders with the ethical courage to change it.
Oh, that's another good one! It reminds me of "An evil man will burn his own nation to the ground to rule over the ashes," misattributed to Sun Tzu (the author of The Art of War), but nevertheless another good quote from somewhere.

I ran across this as a front-page-from-50-years-ago. It is from The Forum - a newspaper for the Fargo-Moorhead area. Check out the headline. This is something we would probably not do in this dystopian age we are in.
Yep, yep! She was attempting to rebrand by pushing "joy." The cover-up was more than Joe's failing health. It was a number of things. The biggest one was about ignoring the mass deaths in Palestine and suppressing some voices speaking out about it.
Wouldn't state's rights count for anything? Or maybe they will force this to happen like they did with ICE. This also feels like it is revenge for standing up to their wet dream of a police state. How depressing!
I absolutely agree. This is what is called a purple state (Minnesota is mixed blue and red 50/50) and I feel like I am surrounded by the clueless ones. The propaganda in media really doesn't help, either.

Yes, I agree, many people have been dumbed down by the propaganda that triggers them and convinces them to be tribal while they fear and hate "the others." That way, they don't fight for what we all need.
When an overgrown, overblown, petulant toddler-in-chief is allowed to rule, the situation at the Hormuz Strait becomes this kind of reality.
I always considered The Specials to be one of the ground-breakers back in the day. Love that two-tone ska! We did a cover of "You're Wondering Now" when not many people were familiar with them.
I used to do a show called The Progressive Rocker when I lived in Southern Oregon. If you can find a low power FM station like that, it is usually easy to do a show. We recorded them and put them on a schedule for the week. People who volunteer for those stations are usually glad to help out, too.

I've had to endure Fox News a couple of times recently, and I have never seen such a delusional bunch - both the hosts and the viewers. Or perhaps the show hosts were saying all that in service to the ongoing grift. Hmmm...
I remember playing in a bar in So Dak where they had what they called a "coon pecker festival." The one who harvested the largest member got 1st prize. That is the collective mentality we see in the US. 🙄

True. And now I'm inspired to ask them to define normal. It sounds like a good starting point to also point out the similarities they are not aware of. Well, not sure how it would go but could be interesting.
I gotta agree. They are also easily triggered, which leads them into accepting propaganda, which keeps them getting triggered, and 'round and 'round. They don't seem to realize that because they are against "the other team."
Yep, once again, there is a disconnect with fairly recent history, which strengthens propaganda. We've been on the same trajectory no matter who was in power, no matter what letter they had by their name. Thanks, it's good to point these things out!
Short and to the point, good article! I hadn't thought of the angle that the attacks on Lebanon would help collapse the negotiations. It all seems to fit their agenda of violence.
They said, "seems to be doing well now," but I think it will be going from bad to worse. The tariff fiasco, the AI bubble, and the increase in crude prices they mention is having an effect and will rival or surpass previous crashes. You're right - change is a coming.
It appears that a number of European countries are disassociating themselves from the US – economically and otherwise. Will we eventually see Great Britain declare their independence from The United States?
I agree, this should be called out no matter whose administration is in power. Both Ds and Rs have enabled that. Their tribal nature restrains them from calling out "the other side."
It is humiliating to know that those in the Trump administration are in charge, yet they are so filled with entitlement that they do not feel humility. The same goes for Trump himself.

Interesting article, I hadn't fully realized that. Hype is used to get ahead even when their product is not ready. Speculation within capitalism enables that. (Yep, AI is bad all the way around)

I am in awe. And depression. Richard Medhurst is one of those people that can really connect the dots and bring understanding to the foreground. Now I need some diversion for a while, but will keep pointing these things out.
