Yup! There are thousands of feeds out there. You can make a Bluesky feed using @surf.social or @graze.social. Or you can find and pin existing feeds. Try opening Graze and making a BeSci.io feed with keywords and accounts. Explore the Feeds tab of the Bluesky app.

Or pin a bunch of nature feeds and stuff focused on my hobbies and then leave a politics and newsfeed buried at the back, but one that only shows vetted journalism and not reactionary or inflammatory discourse 

To bring it to your world of behavioral science, I can reconstruct my digital environment to judge me towards certain behaviors. In the same way that you can move the water bottles to the front of a cafeteria line, I can put my mutuals feed at the top of my blue sky feeds so that I see that first.

The big closed platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn) do not want you to have this power.  it is antithetical to their entire business model.

When the only available vertical video feeds are full of slop and brain rot, it was emotional to directly control what appears in the feed, and actually flipping through only videos of people hanging out in the park or the city explaining the budget performance or a neighborhood event. 

Instagram would never let you have a video feed of only stuff happening in your neighborhood. They only provide you the one Algo feed that pushes towards extremism and engage engagement. They certainly won’t give you a way to see activity from across the open Internet (atproto, fediverse, and rss)

I mean, feeds are effectively a preloaded search query. On Surf, I can build a feed with explicit sources from blue sky and mastodon accounts to our rss feeds to YouTube channels to podcasts, lists, hashtags, and other feeds. I can craft a scrolling experience for myself.
