It's literally just a repeat of the MMO craze of people trying to copy WoW.
Why would anyone leave for your similar live service/MMO you made instead of sticking with the Live Service/MMO that they already invested time into?
And this is a question no one ever seems to pause and ask
Helldivers 2 is one of the most recent live services to actually survive and doesn't lock most of its content away or use a FoMO strategy with every war bond available forever
Showing that FoMO is so detrimental you can succeed just by not doing it no matter how badly you fumble everything else
FoMO model is about extracting as much value as possible from someone once you have them hooked
You can make 1 dollar from 10000 people or 10000 from one but you keep having these idiots walk up and say "what if 10000 from 10000 people" and investors fall for it year after year
It's funny to watch live service after live service deploy a "fear of missing out" approach to monetization but also expect infinite growth
