Only half way through this episode but so far this is excellent. Kudos to AsaleSol Young for speaking so clearly about some of our communities biggest challenges & to @housinginaction.bsky.social for the work they do.

i appreciate aisha chughtai's email announcing safety ambassadors coming to uptown pointing out that the frey administration did not implement the program after it passed council 2 years ago, and that funds were redirected away from it in 2025 and that's the reason for the delay
I was handcuffed/charged with jaywalking (didn’t) holding a large camera taking a photo of street outside this McDonald’s.
While detained, MPD ignored multiple burglary calls. I had to take it all the way to trial where they tried to shake me down for a plea before dismissing 1 min before trial.
Minneapolis Public Schools is looking for volunteers for its Let's Roll ride on May 6 on the Northside.

POWER GRAB NEWS: I have confirmed that Mayor Frey's administration has decided they will no longer bring new street layouts to the city council for approval. The street reconstruction process has always required council approval of new layouts, even after the strong mayor change in 2021.
While Trump's assertion that "a whole civilization will die tonight" represents a discrete threat of genocide against Iran, the fact that it comes from a U.S. president, while Congress does nothing, actually represents a broader civilizational collapse — whether he follows through or not.
I feel sick to my stomach waiting around to see what atrocity Trump has in mind for the people of Iran this evening. It's hard to fathom our other elected leaders aren't able to check him in any meaningful way. It's an indictment not just of voters but of our whole system. We're ruled by a mad king.
The current 12-game Jeopardy champion works at an affordable housing finance agency in NJ, and shamed New York for not building more housing:
"NJ's doing really well, we're ahead of NY, CT, PA. If you're from one of those states, shame on you, build more housing."
"Today, that high-income 10 percent is responsible for 49 percent of all consumer spending, while the share of consumer spending done by the bottom 80 percent has sunk to just 37 percent. "

taxes! they're confusing! we hate paying them! but are you gonna have to, if it's money you moved around for mutual aid? the answer is probably not, but also maybe, depending on how you collected funds! but also hopefully not!
Ah okay thank you! I’ll delete my comment so it doesn’t cause confusion.
Congrats to Rep. @katiejonesmpls.bsky.social and family, who biked to the hospital last week and came back with baby Hans. Here's what she told me about the ride:

Nearly a year after Lunds & Byerlys closed, Aldi to open in downtown St. Paul
The German discount grocer applied for a permit to remodel the former Lunds & Byerlys space in downtown St. Paul
The area hasn’t had a full-service grocery store in almost a year

One thing I noticed that I’ll just put out there: it looks like they are using a trademark symbol on the title Open Streets MPLS on the our streets website. If I had to guess I would say a trademark has been filed.
Dang nice work
Hats off to Will Stancil who ran a great meeting in 7-3.
As I learned last year, running a caucus is a hard, vulnerable, & somewhat embarrassing job. If someone has to do it I’m glad to have someone who genuinely cares like Will
Ya know maybe I’m just getting used to this but that was the best caucus I’ve ever been to.
Multiple abolish ice resolutions, nice conversations with neighbors & the winning group for Hennepin County Convention was a compromise slate of:
Commissioner: Greene
Attorney: Folk
Sheriff: Uncommitted
I’m sorry but trading away timberwolves players is unacceptable At This Time we are going through enough
The strength of the rapid response in Minneapolis is in *both* the direct responders (commute and patrol) and the indirect response that comes at the sound of whistles and horns. ICE is operating among a population that is almost unanimously against them and socialized to be activated at any moment.
Caucus night is tomorrow. My strategy for caucuses: advocate for a cause, rather than a candidate. Creating or joining an “Uncommitted - ICE Out” subcaucus makes it clear to any candidate what they must do to earn my support.
Highly recommend going to the Indian Market on Central if you’re looking for a fun place to support. Whole aisle of tea biscuits. Incredible frozen food section. I’ve started swinging by after a nearby dance class & it’s a real joy
// I’ve seen very little in the way of groups advocating for resolutions at all so please link me if there are ones I should bring / vote for
Also we’re all bringing forward abolish ice resolutions are our caucuses, correct??
(I believe it is a resolution / platform year)
Your experience is different than mine! I’m glad. Good news for me: if you’re right, no one will feel attacked by my post
Thank you for going! May your chair be knowledgeable & your neighbors emotionally regulated
Hard agree!
