I’m recommending this new SubStack weekly feature from Trevor Aaronson, a journalist with great knowledge of the #FBI and national security issues. This will be a useful guide to the upcoming changes in the new administration.

A New Year remarked by a #Freelancer:
Daily emails and messages are no longer from organizations that “need me” for projects and work, but the same organizations that “need me” to give them money.

My dear friend Angela was working the night shift research desk at the Time Inc News Research department on the night John Lennon was murdered. I don't know how she handled the work with all the tears.

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do;
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion, too.
Imagine all the people
Livin' life in peace.
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one.
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one.

Still wondering if it’s worth sharing the skills
You may not remember how difficult it was to get a researcher’s name on a story credit line. I do, because I had to fight for it.
But it still seems that, although stories now regularly have 4 to 6 byline names, a “researcher” credit still at best a “tagline.”
No surprise then, that layoff.
Sounds more James Bond-like. Spy talk. Secrets. Masculine.
So much not the library ladies with eyeglasses on chains around our necks.
Good choice, guys!
So it seems, to me, that we (and our $$ budgets) have been replaced by #OSINT (a military/intelligence community term) which Iearned while investigating the #SnowdenLeak at #TheIntercept. There are OSINT, SIGINT, GEOINT, HUMINT, etc. This is military talk.
Open Source Intelligence? It’s #RESEARCH.
