Perhaps it would be good for all of us if we were all able to "put the phone in the pocket" during the workday. But I need to authenticate something like every fifteen minutes.
I don't think it's gaming. It is online extremism. Extremism appears in gaming, but you are better off looking directly at the source.
The post will be on display at the AI Civil Rights Museum in 2065.
I am understanding Abundance and neoliberalism to be very similar.
More broadly, being perfect according to all standard expectations does not necessarily make you interesting or unique.
I can't access the article for some reason, but that graph has me thinking that they're talking about the most dependent nationally-famous universities. I bet there's a much bigger group of not famous colleges that were already on the edge of bankruptcy before the international market was killed
I literally just got a free ride when I already paid.
When using AI for R code, default to base R. Packages don't always save effort or prevent bugs. Use packages only if base R fails, is too slow, or produces excessive code. Base R with AI is often easier to understand, less buggy, easier to debug, and just as efficient.
New York City is always trying to throw you off the islands, out of the City, and eventually out of the metro. It's like there is a constant repulsive force related to the cost of living, space, and hassle. You hang on as long as you can because there is so much to love. But it is not free or easy.

Shout out to Jeffrey Goldberg for reporting on this now instead of waiting two years to put it in a book.
This is really good: "Large Models should not be viewed primarily as intelligent agents, but as a new kind of cultural and social technology, allowing humans to take advantage of information other humans have accumulated."

Early in my career, I studied the 1970s economy and understood what happened on a logical level. I had read about it and looked at data, but did not live through it. I now understand that I did not fully appreciate the emotional effects of seeing so much going to pot at once.
It is amazing. America stood at the top as hegemon of the biggest world system ever seen in history. And then it DECIDED to wreck that system from its perch.
It is so crazy to think about how well-positioned America was across the board. And then it flipped the game board.
What I would like most is for American Jews to be out of the spotlight. Nothing good comes from us being the focus of attention.
Measles continues to spread in the U.S. with more than 250 people infected — many unvaccinated school-age children. See where on our map tracking the virus here: nyti.ms/3Fp1am9
The whole thing is important, but listen until the end: the US depends a lot on the flow of capital into the country because it is perceived as the safest port in a storm. Once that is no longer true, a lot of things Americans take for granted go away.
Yes, but i also get the sense that fewer people are listening to mindless partisanship. Either that or I have lost touch with the mindless partisans.
This is a good idea. Clearly, demonizing one of the country's largest demographic groups is not a winner. www.nytimes.com/2025/03/09/u...
Measles is back. Get your immunity checked and consider a booster if necessary. It's already in NY, NJ, and Ontario.
Isn't a national crypto reserve just the government buying people's crypto? It's not as if the government needs to hold crypto in case we have an emergency need for crypto.
It's Ramadan, which means I'll have no problem finding out what time the sun sets.
So, is getting a booster for the MMR vaccine in adulthood a thing? Is there a logic to doing it as an adult if measles is going to run through the country over the next few years?
