Found this satirical browser game in Mumbai subreddit. Some redditor created it recently, after a metro pillar slab collapsed on the highway, killing one person.
The name in Hindi means Metro...these days

Thank god for that
Preserving their hegemonic power is all that matters to them.
These same indian elites have also shaped the academic 'decolonial' discourse for far too long.
I just can't see history of indian colonization through the same narrow lens of the makers of that video.
History ended in the 2000s. now this is History NG+
Yeah, it's a good and flashy summary of one perspective or only half the story. I'd like to recommend videos on this channel, if you're interested - youtube.com/playlist?lis...
I'd caution to look beyond all this pomp from Indian Youtubers and videogame developers. Who gets to tell what story is a problem that has plagued India for a long time.
Happy New year!
Expect more of the same
Enjoy the world you created
Archaeology sometimes seems to go out of its way to avoid difficult issues.
In 2025 perhaps the most difficult was the ongoing human and ethical catastrophe caused by the actions of the Government of Israel in Gaza and the Occupied Territories, presented here as a timeline by Everyday Orientalism.
I personally would've benefitted a lot from such a platform if it existed earlier. They are running a crowdfunding for its launch. If possible, please support them in building this and share, if you can.
I very recently, had the opportunity to interact with Dr. Alexandra Dolea and learnt about the platform she's building with her colleagues. It is aimed to help early career researchers find work, opportunities, network and support.

Important piece regarding Indian gaming industry. Hope this adds more nuance in south asian games studies discourse.

Last few years have effectively killed my spirit to pursue archaeology or any hope that I can be one. I wish I could just bomb the shit out of white and brahmin academia.
"Too political, for a country too unstable"
So Sony is promoting Ghost of Yotei on Mumbai metro as well😯
Literally the whole train was covered with promotional posters.

We are honoured to have Prof. Christian Lee Novetzke (University of Washington), whose work explores memory, religion, and public life in South Asia, and Prof. V. Geetha (historian, feminist scholar, and founding editor of Tara Books), who has long been writing about caste, gender, and translation.
The event, which will be held on Zoom, will reflect upon what it means to remember, translate and carry the voices of contemporaries of the Satyashodhak movement into our present.
On the 152nd anniversary of the Satyashodhak Samaj, we warmly invite you to the launch of the English translation of Amhi Pahilele Phule, a text of remembrance that chronicles the lives and struggles of Jotirao and Savitribai Phule.

This is finally coming out! A collective translation of essays and memories written by Phule's contemporaries. Originally translated from Marathi. I've also contributed by translating one chapter in it. More details and joining link in the thread below.
Just read a reddit thread of people passionately sharing about how they have still saved the links of now obsolete and defunct torrenting sites that were once almost like thriving ports...the nostalgia!!
“Technology firms behind artificial intelligence–based note-taking software — marketed to therapists as a time-saving administrative tool — have quietly included provisions in their terms and conditions that allow patients’ therapy records to be sold and manipulated to train other AI applications.”

Since search is dead, how soon do you think Google Scholar is headed for the Google Graveyard? I'm betting it's soon, and academia is NOT prepared
My friend Eslam has had her account removed by bluesky moderation. This is not the first time. I want to tell you what she said happened to her, but first, i’d like you to see Eslam’s campaign, since she is apparently not allowed here to share it herself.
