This is the administration suppressing an important organization that tracks the craziest and worst hate groups: nazis, misogynists, anti-LGBTQ+ and other vile crap.

Charles Mingus "Wednesday Night Prayer Meeting" footage Live at Antibes 1960 YouTube video by Weasel Walter

Happy Birthday to the one and ONLY Charles Mingus.
He once called my dad up (in response to an article that was quite positive) and just said, "It's Mingus. Don't write my name no more baby..."

The White House Intervened on Behalf of Accused Sex Trafficker Andrew Tate During a Federal Investigation Federal authorities were chided for seizing electronic devices from Tate and his brother, and told to return them, records and interviews show. Experts said the intervention was highly inappropriate.

When Trump demonstrates support like this for awful, vile people, he shows the world who he really is:

Miles Davis- Live at the Royal Roost, Sept. 25, 1948 with Lee Konitz
Miles Davis- Live at the Royal Roost, Sept. 25, 1948 with Lee Konitz YouTube video by Milestones: A Miles Davis Archive

Died this day, 2020: Alto saxophonist Lee Konitz, aged 92. Konitz was part of the 𝘉𝘪𝘳𝘵𝘩 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘊𝘰𝘰𝘭 nonet and in 1948, after their two week appearance at the Royal Roost, Miles led some of the same players in a quintet, heard on this very decent sounding radio broadcast.

Happy Birthday to one of my great heroes, Gene Ammons, born this day 101 years ago, 4/14/25 and gone far too young at age 49 in 1974. The sweetest spot on record is 1960-62. Roughly 20 LPs in that widow, including my faves: Jug, Nice 'n Cool, Boss Tenor, Soulful Moods (all in 4th row from bottom).

Trump loves touting "no tax on tips," but ignores that his Department of Labor proposed a rule that would make it easier for corporations to misclassify workers.

Millions of gig workers are wrongly labeled "independent contractors," and cut out of benefits and protections designated for employees.

Veterans Who Depend on Mental Health Care Keep Losing Their Therapists Under Trump Hundreds of mental health professionals have left the Department of Veterans Affairs since President Donald Trump took office, leaving staff “at a breaking point” and some veterans waiting as long as ...

The VA lost about 700 social workers and 500 psychologists and psychiatrists over the course of 2025 — a significant change for an agency that was adding mental health staffers nearly every month leading up to Trump’s return to office.

How Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s Vaccine Agenda Risks a Resurgence of Deadly Childhood Plagues The health secretary is spreading doubts about vaccine safety and considering changes that could prompt manufacturers to flee the U.S. market. History has shown how plagues from the past can roar back...

The success of the U.S. vaccination system depends on two fundamental pillars: parents trusting in vaccines and children having access to them.

Under RFK Jr., both are in peril.

Just wanted to remind folks, especially the GOP and the FDD, that Barack Obama’s 2015 nuclear deal didn’t give Iran control of the Strait of Hormuz or allow it to keep 60% enriched uranium. It sent $1.7 billion to Iran versus the tens of billions Iran will now make from tolls. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Thanks to the dapper fellow on my morning subway ride blasting Sonny Clark out of a Bluetooth speaker. Obnoxious in the best way. Made my morning. We chatted briefly about Jackie sounding so mature relatively early in his career.

One of theseI’ll find some of my dad’s writing about the time he and my mom spent in Morocco, hanging at Randy’s club there. Mom did a lot of art while there, and dad picked up a silver medallion he wore for the rest of his life.

Original Faubus Fables (Remastered)
Original Faubus Fables (Remastered) YouTube video by Charles Mingus - Topic

While the version of "Fables Of Faubus" on Mingus Ah Um is excellent, I prefer the 1960 version from Charles Mingus Presents Charles Mingus for two reasons: (1) Eric Dolphy; (2) it contains the censored lyrics.

If you're into "Spiritual Jazz," but aren't collecting CHARLES MINGUS albums, you're doing it wrong. Hard to pick just one Mingus LP, but you can't go wrong with this all-time classic. My 1959, original deep groove #vinyl pressing. Basically, just buy everything by Mingus.
