This National Library Week, I’m proud to celebrate the vital role our libraries play in strengthening our communities.
I recently visited Prairie Trails and Tinley Park libraries in IL-06, where I heard directly from staff about the incredible work they do to educate our community every day.

The WIC Program provides nutrition resources, referrals to medical care, and food benefits at no-cost to eligible families in DuPage County.
I recently toured and met with staff at the DuPage County Health Department to learn about the important resources they can provide to our community.
Enjoyed talking with @meiselasb.bsky.social about Trump's energy policy, foreign policy, domestic policy and the lack of any coherent logic tying them all together. youtu.be/2xMaEBJMSbU?...
"Things from the 1980s that Donald Trump misses" is too big a category for a single Jeopardy column. The Concorde, Hulk Hogan, Rudy Giuliani, teenage beauty pageants, insider trading, Truly Tasteless Jokes - it's the entirety of his headspace.
1980s New York tabloids knew that Trump couldn't tell the same story twice - especially if it interfered with his thirst for self-aggrandizement. I'm not sure why this is newsworthy in 2026.
Trump's foreign policy is driving up demand for products that have been disfavored by Trump's domestic policy.

However low your opinion of the Roberts Court, it should be lower.
Full bill text here: www.congress.gov/bill/119th-c...
This doesn’t require Constitutional amendment. It doesn’t require that we wait until the White House and Senate are politically aligned to effectuate more ethical, rule-of-law driven court expansion. We could do it today. And we should.
It would also use Congress’ power under Article 3 to limit SCOTUS’ appellate jurisdiction and move much of that to a randomly selected panel of Senior Circuit court judges. In combination, that would effectively eliminate SCOTUS’ ability to act as a political, rather than judicial entity.
My bill, the Restoring Judicial Separation of Powers Act would, among other things force SCOTUS to provide written, signed explanations of all their decisions. casten.house.gov/imo/media/do...
If you are as infuriated as you read this as I am, know that Congress not only has the power to fix the abuse of the Shadow Docket but also that the legislation is already drafted. We just need to get it to the floor. www.nytimes.com/2026/04/18/u...
A peer reviewed study shows a promising link between flu and shingles vaccines and a reduced risk of dementia. A heroin addict who cut off a raccoon’s penis for “further study” says these vaccines cause autism. For busy Americans, it can be hard to know who to trust.
Last week, I checked out the Evergreen Park Urban Barn with Mayor Kelly Burke. I enjoyed learning about their environmental initiatives and educational programming for students and families in our community.
15. I stress I'm just speculating here, based on oil markets, past behavior and the motives/character of the actors. But sending Tweedledee and Tweedledum out to try and put some pressure from the boss (wink wink, nudge nudge) would be consistent. /fin
14. So what would you do if you're Trump? You don't really understand or like markets. You know they can be manipulated from the office of the POTUS but don't want the Saudis to take it out on Jared, or your golf course.
13. If you don't, Trump has a political problem because high gas prices aren't good for his political fortunes. But he's also got lots of pressure from the Saudis. (OUR CONSTITUTION HAS AN EMOLUMENTS CLAUSE SO THAT WE DON'T HAVE TO ASK THESE QUESTIONS BUT HERE WE ARE)
12. Now imagine you're a US oil producer. Would you put new rigs in now? Is the US energy market a market or is it just crony capitalism? If the latter, who's Trump's crony: you, or the Saudis? Would you invest capital in that environment?
11. And yet Trump 2.0 hasn't played the Trump 1.0 trick to pressure the Saudis into pushing the price up to help his oil producing buddies. youtu.be/XF2ayWcJfxo?...
10. And maybe it's just a coincidence. But US rig counts were up under Biden. They fell under Trump. US producers had recent experience with Trump pressuring the Saudis to help them make more money. And yet rig counts have stayed down under Trump 2, as oil has stayed under $70.
7. In the Saudis ideal world, they (a) don't get bullied again and (b) keep the oil price below the ~$70/bbl price that is high enough to bring US production on line. I'm not saying that's why the following things happen... but here are some "things that make you go hmm":
