Foreword by Cllr Butt, the Leader of the council and Cycling Champion in 2013 in support of the bid. He said: "I believe that Brent has the combination of innovation and initiative, political commitment and support, and ongoing capability to deliver".
"I believe that Brent has the combination of innovation and initiative, political commitment and support, and ongoing capability to deliver." These were the words by the then Leader of the Council. He may look familiar. 6/n
Brent didn't secure funding on the Mini-Holland bid, sadly. However, what happened to the stated ambition and long-term vision? The plans were sound and supported by well researched evidence still relevant today but far more urgent now to ensure Brent is resilient in the climate emergency. 5/n
Map of Brent showing the cycle track (cycle lanes that provides protection with a physical separation) built in the borough as of today.

Westminster, so close to Brent and yet, when you see all the recent infrastructure changes, this feels so far away. Well done to all involved in our neighbouring borough that made cycling easier and safer for everyone. #Inspiring
Great campaign by @londoncycling.bsky.social, and all their borough groups, pushing for council candidates to commit to work with TfL on expanding the cycle network, so people from Hoxton to Hillingdon and Richmond to Redbridge can access a network of safe cycle routes.
We are asking the potential next leader of Brent Council to commit to building a Brent cycle network fit for anyone from every walk of life. #StreetsForCycling.
