(should say as well I was asking for them due to cars parking on the pavement - so not a smash at high speed - perhaps they thought bollards would work for low speed car issues...)

Continuously emailing Lambeth council eventually did it (I've actually gotten 1 new bollard, another replaced after being smashed by a car, and a series of cycle stands in a spot I asked for bollards 🤣 - I assume they had a cycle stand quota and thought two birds one stone etc)
First time on the new Lime bikes which was very over exciting (even had someone come up to me asking where I'd found it 🤣) nice to be able to see the speed (although after taking it down a big hill I'm quite certain it's capped out at 15mph)
Oh I 100% also do this, and cycle/pedestrian only streets which I am obsessed with
Don't worry I know it's frustrating when policy people talk about things to teachers when we aren't the ones actually having to enact it! I appreciate hearing your perspective on it.
Fair enough, I've not had to have the discussion with parents - but given so many schools have managed to ban them without it I'm surprised it's necessary (and doesn't feel like it was worth threatening the wellbeing and schools bill for)
It's already government guidance though, so you can already just blame govt for it?
I'm responsible for several local bollards which make me smile every time I walk past them (yes I am a giant nerd)
Most schools already individually banned smartphones (in a variety of different ways) so not sure there's a lot of point to the national ban (there lots of useful data on phones in schools from @teachertapp.bsky.social e.g. - teachertapp.com/articles/tea...)
What a gorgeous day 😍
When I started at @smfthinktank.bsky.social (which does a lot of work on pensions) I was told I would become obsessed with pensions policy as soon as I learnt more about it (because it's so important and people don't care about it enough) and 10 months in I can confirm this is 100% true.
I'm quite sure I know the lane you mean and have been waiting for it (to not fear death) on my commute - it's also been extensively consulted on (!)
They have these in Lambeth as well (not sure how recent that is)
Is this the first pop hit to name drop the Eurostar? (International train nerds moving to the mainstream)

New plans announced to improve the standard of food in schools are welcome.
The SMF has advocated for proactive public health measures like this, as the most effective way to improve our standard of living.

Across democracies we should be taking a hard look at what happened in the last 16 years in Hungary (and what is currently happening in the US) and how difficult getting to today's moment has been - Democracy is not a given, we all need to fight hard for it and constantly guard against its erosion.
That's worse bc it makes me think it was for parkrun 👀
The fact this has happened before the COVID inquiry has finished...
100%
- I should also add the parkrun volunteers were great and v clear this was nothing to do with parkrun/they didn't agree with the message
(like I don't know if these are for another event? I only saw them on the parkrun course and main walk up to it, and not elsewhere in the park- but either way - it's a sport company, have some awareness of the existence of parkrun!)
Completely tone deaf advertising from Nike - putting ads all over Brockwell Park including a "you didn't come all this way for a walk in the park" right next to the start of parkrun (which specifically promotes people walking the course!)
I was really not that into the space flight, but after watching tik tok edits of Christina Koch (including particularly amazing ones of this photo - followed by images of women with braided hair throughout history) I ended up fully locked in/quite emotional!
The OECD is clear: freezing or cutting fuel duty isn’t the most effective way to help motorists.
SMF Chief Economist @gideonsalutin.bsky.social sets out a better approach:

(also, anyone saying buses are fine needs to go up to Crystal Palace and try taking this thing - is it better than a bus, yes - is it as smooth/pleasant to use as a tram? Absolutely not -
www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...)
Every time we're having an argument about a UK city being unable to build a tram I'm reminded of the big ongoing expansion of the Stockholm metro (18 new stations, 30kms of new track) and imagine a world where you can even dream about that type of project in similar sized cities in the UK..
Keep writing and re-writing a post but everything I write just feels completely inadequate. I definitely preferred a time I wasn't panic checking my phone the moment I woke up.
